yeah tune & START your engine at half tank (especially from cold), then topup to run

make sure your fuel tubing is in good nick too... more often than not any "lean"
issues is due to the pressure line being broken/leaking so the carb is just gravity fed.
Make sure the lines are leakfree and make them as short as possible.

If you have an original tank with the primer button, junk it and buy a newer tank.
Primer button leaks pressure too much.

I have heard 2 other things, add an extra loop in your fuel line or add a straw inside your tank (aerial tubing) which sits about 3mm shorter then the height of the tank. Just a few things Ive come across, I was running a header tank for a while. Just go to your LHS and grad a plane fuel tank and run from you main fuel tank to the header tank then to the engine. Make sure you keep the header tank past halfway (it should never need filling as the fuel from your main tank will top the header up).

i heard the lean out was from the vibration of the motor and the design of the tank. The vibration from the engine causes it to get bubbles in the fuel line at half a tank. I use fuel resistant foam inside the tank and it seems to stop this from happening.

The majority of the problem is that the Savage fuel tank was never designed to be run dry.

If you take a look at the tank, the top of the tank is approx 75% of its capacity or around 125ml-130ml, if you never allow the fuel to drop under this level, your tune will stay relatively the same, just refuel when you hit the low section, there is not even a need to shut down, just flip the lid, top up and drive off.

Think of the bottom of the tank as a reserve, just to get you to the nearest refuel station:thumb:

yeah good point - although the savage tank isnt that big to start with, so reducing its size by 25% is a big hit to run times.

ill try putting the trick of putting the fuel tube and clunk into the fuel tank.

I have a Savage X 4.6 and I fitted a HPI inline fuel filter before my first tank of fuel through it and I have put around 2 letres through it and I have not had any half tank lean problems.

This may help you, however it may not aswell.

Good luck.
