2.4gig is the frequency on which these radios operate, unlike the lower banded 36mhz, they offer no interference from other radios.

A lot of clubs are actually changing to 2.4ghz only because of the advantages that it has, so yeah it would be a wise investment

 

So no-one in your club uses 2.4G radios ? Amasing!!! We only have a couple still using 36mhz , out of over 130 members....

Best radio to get is the 2.4g version of what you have now , so you'll sort of know the menu. Although the heli menu is lots different to fixed wing ..

You'll need at least 6 channels , preferably 7 to get a good gyro menu .. The Spektrum DX7 is popular , but is quickly outgrown by most ;who go to a JR DSX9.. the DSX9 has far superior setup menus , and is available for around $650.

Rarely see Futaba radios around ..

Or , depending on what radio you have now , a 2.4g module for it may be the best way to go .. I run an XPS 2.4G module in my JR 9X11...

You want an electric or nitro heli ? initially an electric needs a rather large investment in batteries and chargers etc ; you'd already have a starter etc to suit a nitro heli ...
