There's a few around.

Do you have on-road or off, electric or nitro?

I race my nitro buggy at penrith http://www.pdnracing.org.auon Tuesday nights.
There's a neat little off-road track at Castle Hill. A little difficult to get to and a real pain if the gates are shut.
Also if you are off-road, look up BMX tracks in the yellow pages - big jumps & big air are scarey stuff for beginners like me - I land on my roof from a 10cm high jump!

What area of Sydney are you in? I'm sure someone will tell you the few closestones.

Cheers, Oggy.

I agree that the Castle Hill track is good and in the same complex is a BMX track. You have to watch out for kids on bikes at the BMX track though - It's a little inconsiderate of them to want to ride their bikes when you are trying to master the track and its jumps with your R/c!!

The complex is called the Fred Caterson Reserve. The r/c track is off a road which goes down to an oval. It's quite a huge area - playing fields and tracks all over the place. I can't recall if there are signs to the r/c track.

Cheers,

Steve

are basketball courts good for onroad r/c?

not many of my friends are into r/c...only 1 guy is...

so can't see any fun with only 2 cars coming to race

seems like no one knows any proper tarmac tracks for r/c cars.

Castle Hill has a separate club for OnRoad - they are one of the bigger mobs racing in Sydney but I think they still run only on a "temporary" track which the setup each race day.

There should be a big covered (shed?) area somewhere at the complex, the track should be painted onto the concrete floor.

Their website is http://www.castlehillraceway.com/

I have no idea about NSW geography so telling me you live a train's ride from Hobbyco means not much to me, but...

I have found the best bashing and practising spots are netball courts. As there are always a few in a row and you can test your gear changing and top speed. It really gives you a chance to wind it out.

A good place to take your on road tourer is the netball courts at Meadowbank. There are like 22 courts there and the surface is plexi pave stuff so you get pretty good grip.

It's also a very clean surface, so you don't need to clean your car afterwards.

The netball courts at Tempe are also okay, but I've found after a run, you'll get hundreds of those small rocks the size of hundreds and thousands in every single nook and cranny of yourchassis.

Anyone else want to share your bashing spots ?

I go to meadowbank even with my buggy if i need to spend some time tuning... its big enough to get up good speed and test the engines top end.

Its also a fantastic location after a bit of rain, makes for the biggest and best skid/drift pit you've ever seen = ]

The only other location i go to that would be suitable for onroad would be Don Moore reserve at North Rocks... it has some netball courts (smooth tarmac) which are again good for tuning, theres also the carpark and a (small) BMX track with small jumps so its great for tuning and easy-going bashing.

The car park at Bunning's Warehouse at Bankstown on Old Canterbury Rd.
near the Bankstown Airport is good for a late night bash. The car park
is dimly lit but you can still see your rc car.

It's mostly industrial area, so you can run your nitro without worrying the neighbours.

I am on the North Shore and have been using the Mars Road industrial estate on weekends (Lane Cove West) - nice and smooth open roads. Or Willoughby leisure centre netball courts. Any others over this way? Will have to try Meadowbank....

North Shore? Is that near Macquarie Fields, where the recent riots occurred?

Heya Guys

North Ryde also races on-road electric at Brush Farm on 1/3/5th Friday night of each month (weather permitting)

Also rumour has it that the St Ives guys arent currently running although i dont know if this is true or not.

While ive also been told that if you head out to eastern creek there is
very little grip on their track and you'll struggle if you dont have
foam tires.

BTW Zoo im in Neutral Bay so im not too far from ya

Trying Willoughby Leisure Centre netball courts (down the bottom) most probably this Sunday evening. (We know where the light switches are!)
