Cant get rid of it. The government has no say in the matter. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-09-...waters/4241194?height=100&ratio=1x1&width=100
just heard the minister on the adio.. what a joke ..that any other country can plough the ocean and yet our they won't allow 30 trwalers that are asssie familys to do the job.. and yet they allow a intrenational mob that will not benefit any australian's..

what a joke when and if it comes to sydney which it will , i hope all people with seaworthy boats go and drop concrete slabs over there nets.. and rip them up.. and don't worry there are quite a few who are preparing to do just that,

and i.m very much discusted that the thread was removed..what a joke
I'd like to add this to this thread as it's fishing related and didn't want to start another thread, I hope you don't mind, I think it shows the attitude of fisheries ATM.
I called the DPI today to report that lake Victoria has lost the battle to the carp as I sat on my mower and watched as a huge school of Euro's and golden carp attacted and pestered a catfish until it went belly up, it blew me away watching this take place in the shallows. I was mowing thinking some poor excuse of a fisherman has caught 4 of these catfish and left them on the bank to die but I seen what's happening to them and thought I'd do my bit and let fisheries know. I wasted 25 minutes of my short work day in the sun as the lady at fisheries simply told me the carp are a major problem in victorian waters and they simply don't have the funds to act on it....., wow, only 4 years ago I wanted to stock the lake and they wouldn't let me due to the "Protected Catfish", today after a few more calls I find out they gave up on them after the near floods in January last year when over three tone of carp and redfin got stuck in a pipe/drain after being flushed out the lakes overflow. This both dissapoints me yet excites me all at the same time as carp a good fun to catch and great practice on bream gear and a light drag. It's a shame to know they no longer care about this long running breading round for this catfish but great to know there numbers are now plentyful through out the natural enviroments. Bring on a carp catching weekend in Maryborough down the road.

There is a big event run each year on the Logan river, to catch and kill carp. It has been a big success in reducing the numbers of carp in the system and allowing natives to recover. Maybe Millzee, you could get something like that going on your lake and have a weekend of smashing carp with 100 other like minded people. Google about for Carp Busters. www.qmdc.org.au/publications/.../980/.../2011-carp-buster-series.pdf info for this year event.
I was thinking something like that, If I could talk a local car yard into putting up a car/4x4 as a risky "catch the tagged fish" prize it could be a winner, I think I'll put my mind into this one, I spent a few hours thinking about it while mowing today, I might chat with a few other business's and see what we can come up with, I'd be happy to put up a weeks lakeside cabin accommodation to the heaviest bag weight ect. I'll post any future activity on this idea if it looks like being worth it.

This was removed 3 weeks ago Ambro as the thread went way off track.

It was "bloody rubbish" all right as you were one of the major contributors to it being removed due to abuse served up to other contributors who might not have shared your point of view.

If we cleaned it up, it would have lost all context so it was easier just to remove it to the back room.

Cheers,

Steve

one bloke out of all of us said that the super trawler was a good idea.. you should of just deleted his post's only as he was either a labour party stooge or just had no idea ..what he was going on about.. they the labour party have trolls that go on forums trying to do exactly that get the threads deleted.. someone tried the same thing in a couple of the fisho forum's .. but people were on to him or them, real quick..

it was a serious issue.. to most fisho's that use ausrc..

That's not isolated to any one particular political party

So, you just wanted a one sided argument. That's pretty ignorant, isn't it?

What is it with the political right and their endless conspiracy theories about how the left is trying to stifle debate and hide truth. I am soon to start a degree in politics and philosophy, which i became fond of when studying ethics courses during my science degree. So, knowing that there will be a lot of debate style writing and presenting a position and making argument to support it, i have been spending some time on forums and blogs debating politics mostly.

To that end, i have found that the ideological right, (those who only ever vote conservative) when loosing an argument, seem to all invoke some conspiracy argument about how the left is using the media to hide the truth. In this regard, Aussie conservatives seem to be going down this path also, sadly, and becoming much more like the US Republicans.

Political parties trolling Ausrc is almost as funny as thinking Andrew Bolt offers unbiased political commentary. LOL
Should we take bets on how long this thread is going to last...

Not long juging by yesterdays thread cleanup, in which i did some of my best "Someone is wrong on the internet" work.

there is a difference in coming on and giving a valid reason to let the boat in and i;ll be open to that anyday..

i can't see any valid reason for this boat that destroyed the lives of fishing family's.. the people in europe from where this boat is from have banned this ship in there water's and banned in afrika. because of there destructive ways..or for that matter any trwaler who does the wrong thing... a few bays in sydney were once a baron waste land , they brought in the buy back scheeme, buy out fishing trawler's and lots of the trawler bloke wroughted the system badly.. if you go to bays now its teaming with fish .. and there are still some trawler's who are stilloperating and doing the right thing..

to have one bloke, first time poster that's for it.. out of a entire fishing forum that is opposed to the vessel entering the waters .. tell's me and other's he is a stooge.. he was found out pretty quick.

i like anybody to came on with a valid reason for why this vessel should plough the australian waters.. i'm open to it anyday.

Ambro...you loose all credability once you start with your political labor bashing policy....this is an RC forum, not the Young Liberals....everytime you disagree with something it is Labor's fault, and some other guy will be there banging on about it being the Liberals fault
I have to tell you, it is getting really bloody old, politics belongs on it's own forum, many of us dont give a rats arse about politics in general, and most of us are realistic enough to know, that anything to do with Super trawlers and the like is well beyond our control, and nothing we do as a forum or as an individual will change that.

Unless some political party is trying to do something good for the RC Community, lets leave them completely out it

Here is your reason....This is AUSRC.com.....not Fishing Life...Steve gave you a reason for closing the last thread on this subject, and not to sound harsh, but he doesnt need to explain his reason for the deletion of the thread to you or anyone else, as an Admin on this forum, he has earned the right to make that decision through his dedication to keeping this forum great
what a joke ..that any other country can plough the ocean and yet our they won't allow 30 trwalers that are asssie familys to do the job

A couple of things come to mind here, firstly, a fleet of 30 trawlers is going to cause just as much damage and by catch as one big boat. Secondly it is economically unviable for a fleet of smaller ships to catch the same tonnage per season as one big boat. Lastly no one is being put out of business by this boat, because what it is catching is currently an under used resource. 5 mins on the university website and i can get to the facts on the matter.

that's fair enough ..it was in the non rc section.. my point was one bloke who could not validate any of his cliams that the ship should be allowed to be here, and 10 of us who gave him valid reason that the ship should be banned. had this thread closed..
but that;s fine.. just won't post anything in the non rc section.. it was a pettion.
