DAMN!!!

I should have pulled the car apart before I ordered the new belt... Took the car apart tonight o fit it and I discovered to my horror that the teeth on the rear diff that the rear belt goes around have completely chewed up or melted, and the same for the small gear on the layshaft!! DamN plastic parts
Even the front diff is showing signs of damage to the teeth...

Can you get aluminium replacement parts?? I bet they are so dear I would be better off going and buying a TRF415 instead....

not happy jan!

What HAVE you been doing with your car???!!

I have had an 04 since they very first came out... and yes the original pulleys are worn but still usable. (I swap F&R every so often to even the wear, also the layshaft pulleys can be swapped too.)

I've managed to break the LAYSHAFT, and couldn't get a spare so I bought this:

Yeah, will just get the standard $13.50 parts... not spending that kinda dollar on this car... still i was annoyed cos i wanted to have a run of it over the easter break...

oh well... i guess I should have pulled out of the race when I noticed a problem rather than continue to run.

Even the inside of the rear gear case has wear marks on it!

Swap pulleys and diffs F to R and just put the new belt/s in. Worn pulleys don't seem to do any damage to thebelts... its probably the other way round, a worn or dislodged belt does a lot more damage to the plastics.

I caught a twig once, when going down the straight. The car simply screeched to a halt -flatspotted all 4 hoops.

Try clean it out with a small screwdriver & hobby knife...ya might still have 1/2.

Swapping them over makes them run on the other side of the pulleys.
