If you follow HPI's instruction to the letter you shouldnt have any
issues. Its quite easy, just takes a bit of time. Reverse is a
bit of fun and quite handy.

DO NOT PUT IT IN REVERSE UNTIL THE TRUCK HAS STOPPED ! If you do your
reverse module will be nothing more than a black box with some chunks
of metal and grease in it !

I have disabled the third channel thumb sh*tch on the stock hpi
radio and I now use the channel reverse switch to put it in reverse,
its out of the way and im not so tempted to touch it !

Hey savage ss,

I dont undertsand your post too well but anyway ....

Have you checked that you re-assembled your brakes correctly ?

So from what I understand when the car is set to go fowards everything
is nice and free , but when it is in reverse everything becomes hard to
move ......

Make sure your reverse servo is travelling correclt, i had to chuck the
one tower sent me and replaced it with a hi tec one, no issues at all
now. If reverse isnt engaging correctly then the changeover gear could
be trying to drive the reverse gearset as well as trying to make the
output shaft go in the fowards direction.

Id suggest disconnecting your servo linkages and engage and disenagae
reverse by hand and see if the problem still exists. If it does have a
look at your reverse modules internals and inspect the 3 small cogs
that are the reverse gear set, inspect for damage and free movement.
Use the hpi diagram to figure out what gears are the reverse gear set.

hope this helps

Hey Odum thanks for your response, ok the transmission is out of my car and i pulled back the siler linkage and spin the spur gear anticlockwise and it still like it is binding up,is it spose to spin as freely as it does in forward.

The reverse module is brand new from the states i using the SF-1 from the savage for the reverse mod. Before i put the reverse mod in i check it and open it to make sure every thing works and itdid. do you reckon it is not engaging propley. or do you think I should justrun it anyway and see what happens.

what u think

please helpEdited by: Savage SS

remove the reverse module from the transmission . Test it out by hand.

With the reverse module in the foward state ( as shown below ) the
chrome slide collar is holding the change over gear inside the
hub, the reverse gear set ( not shown in the pic below ) is just
sitting there, with no drive applied.

Now with the crome linkage collar extended the change over gearis
pulled out of the hub and now it starts to drive the reverse gear set.

Im guessing that your reverse module is getting stuck in this state

In this state the change over gear will try and apply drive to the reverse gear

set while not fully out of the hub, basically trying to drive against itself.

Look at the exploded diagram of your reverse module and go from there.

ok well i did exactly what u said and i took it apart and i thouhgt i fixed if it seems to work when the reverse is out of the tranny but when it goes in it is quite hard to spin the spur gear left as well as the drive cups. Spend 2 hours trying to fix and i just gave up so my reverse is a $40 US paper weight. If you can think of a reason why it is doing it please help

Geez I only wish that my reverse module was as cheap as $40.00. I'd be really annoyed if mine was a $100.00 paperweight!!
