Skidd are you reading this

LOL... I am mate... but I work on the principle that generally if a deal is too good to be true, then it is.

I wonder what the catch is? Who do we know who'll be going to the USA soon?

Umm... yeah, have had a close look at these toys. Points noted:

1) these things are small, nah TINY. Might look funny for some but most Oz guys wouldn't fit comfortably on one. You'll get a sore back in 5 mins.

2) price wise, there's some locals starting to list 'em for ~A$3xx. But most are in Sydney still.

3) the cheap ones (ie < $1k) are all clones from China. Build quality is only so-so... frame doesn't look particularly study on most.

For a toy costing $300, I'd breakup the cost to be...

$20 frame

$30 body & fairings, unlicenced stickers

$50 bulk shipping

$100 profit to middlemen

4) these things are LETHAL. Don't even think of riding them in the streets, cars won't see you ever. Its bad enough on a full-size bike, these tinies are totally invisible - especially to Toorak tractors.

Whatever you do these things ARE NOT TOYS FOR KIDDIES. Do not buy one for your kiddie if you love them. Especially if you love them!

nb: this is coming from a guy who's had exposure to the original Italian mini-bikes in the 1980s. Our LHS stocked them... and they were a real hoot around the 1/8th track. Lucky they weren't cheap ($2-3k 20yrs ago) but those were definitely well-built; I think one of the Italian racing bike framemakers built those.

I'd think a 4WD ATV would be more fun than a gokart.

Offroad vs onroad, hehe.

Damned, I walk past the Elizabeth St (Melbourne's Mecca for m/cycles) too often.

that works too. just make sure its 4 wheels not 3. the 3 wheelers are not as stable, meaning bigger risk of accidents. I v'e seen one to many accidents involving 3 wheelers where the rider slipps off the foot peggs at full noise resulting in a very quick and painful dismount from the 3 wheeler

For $750 you can't go wrong with the chrome and 49cc engine. It even has a speedo and lights
