what is everyons view on these chargers..im looking for ana verage cahrger to cahrge some 2400 mah packs and some 3000 nimh packs....has anyone got one of these..if there is a better solution for this price let me know

Yeah, they are an copy of the ansamm charger which ive got.Very good and fast

the omni charger charges buy pumping amps thru it for like 3 seconds on, then 3 seconds off .. 3 on then 3 off....


i can see this coz i put my voltmeter there to measure it... an i can also hear it....


is this normally wat a charger does?


also when i put 2amps thru my 4xAA 2000mah the batteries gets very warm. is this normal?and stays warm for about 5minutes after i stop charging


onmy aa batteries itquotes charge rates


600mah takes 5 hours - quick charge


200mah takes 15 hours - standard charge





does this mean i can only set it to 600mah max?


also does anyone know the discharge rate of the omni charger? is it adjustable? cozi left my 4x2000mah battery pack over night for discharge and it was still discharging when i woke up

The cycling on & off whist charging is normal.


It's normal for the batts to get warm when charging... but not HOT.


Charging time for your batts... MMmmm don't really know, but I always try and charge them at about 750ma.


Discharging... I have no clue.

Pulse charging might not be good for NiMHs, general consensus is that they prefer straight linear charging.


Small cells for low-drain applications like RX/TX should be done at "1C" or less, so that's 1x the rated capacity of the battery - ie takes about an hour for full charge.


Fast-charge works better for high-drain applications, but you might get less capacity that way. Fast charging means anything up to "3C".

I thought the rule was to charge around the rate you expect to consume power.



High drain applications charge high. Low drain applications trickle charge.

Sorry.. when I said it was "normal"... I meant for that type of charger, I have the same one and there is no way to set it to either pulse or linear.


It's normal for the Omni charger to pulse.


Now as to whether or not that is good for your batteries... I'm sure the electric folks would know better than a nitro boy like me.

ok when i charge my 4x2000mah rechargables (1.2mah each = 5v)


when i set the charger to 2mah the reading on my voltmeter says that its peaking at over 7v.


when i put it to 1mah it peaks at around 6v.


so is pumping more than 5v thru the 4pack safe?


p.s i heard that if the batteries goes from 20degC to 40 DegC then it's safe to do. i temp gun my batteries at 1.5mah charge rate and it read around 35degC. anyone know of this.

Nicads stay cool until they are overcharged, when they get hot if you keep pumping the current in. There are some heat-detect chargers that use this to cutoff charging.


NiMH get warm during fast charging though, so can't use heat as a reliable detection criteria. Also don't blow cool air over NiMH when they are charging, it'll confuse a voltage-peakdetect charger.

howdy, i am having probs with this charger...





my 4xAA 1.2v battery packgoes flat at around 5v ... then i charge it, and after 5 minutes or so the charger says that the battery pack is fully chraged (single green light flashes) .. so, i then use the battery pack and it doesnt last more than a few minutes...


is the battery charger giving me a false "full" reading? i measure the volts and i think it's around 5.3v when it tells me its full.


anyone else got this charger have the same problem?


p.s what should 4xAA 1.2v fully charged reading be? around 5.5v?

hmmmm thats wierd, coz the battiery dies at anthing under 5v





its like a 12v car battery, when it chrages it goes to 14.v and when its fully charged it should be around 13v.

These chargers SUCK
Mine just blew up and so did a mate from racing
They all do

Mine, the charge light comes on and the lights start to sequence,
even when there is no battery plugged in!! And the needle doesnt
show and amps pulsing either.

Now trying to decide between a Novak millenium pro and a LRP
Pulsar Competition. though I notice on LRPs webiste that the
Competition 2 has just been announced/released and it charges up to
10 amps and has a few other improvements, but i cant wait that long
i need one by next weekend

I've justed received my MRC Superbrain 969 Pro yesterday, bought it for a sweet price of $60 USD + $30 shipping, which works out to be about $130 AUD,
