I know he has some savage 25's in stock. He is based in canberra, ive had dealings with and no complaints here !

www.mrcmodelcarparts.com.au

I just got my savage 25 from tower , it took 15 days from when they
shipped it. I think australian customs is what seems to hold up a
speedy delivery, not to mention the smucks hitting me another 70 bucks
for gst, holding fees etc. They had the hide to charge gst on the
postage that I paid tower, thats just plain rude. Buit I must admit, im
glad i have my truck now !

Hi Sally,

Even after paying the expensive air freight with Tower Hobbies, you will still end up spending less than you would buying an S25 RTR here in Oz.

If you go for the expensive shipping you will get it within a 10 to 15 day period.

Not to bad for the sake of saving a few hundred dollars.

Sally,

Welcome to the forum.

Currently at Tower the Savage 25 RTR is $399. Air Freight (15 days) is $103. If you spent more than 300 before the end of Feb, you get a $25 discount.....

Therefore $399 + $103 - $25 = $477US = Approximately $630 Aussie. Customs will then charge you approximately $63 in GST... Bottom line $693(ish) Aussie Dollars and you will have it in 15 days. You will not do better than that anywhere locally. In fact budget at least another $200 - $500 depending on where you buy it.

Welcome to the forum Sally.

I purchased a Savage 25 RTR from tower a few days ago - awaiting the notice in the mail to say customs have it... I can confirm the price was about $628AUS + whatever customs end up charging me.

I had a bit of heart in mouth this morning when I discovered my creditcard had been overcharged, but after a quick call to Tower (It was around 9am in Australia) they confirmed that I was only billed once by them and my credit card company seems to have made an error with the charge. A call to my credit card company (who blamed tower) and mysteriously the 2nd charge disappeared shortly afterwards. I really appreciate thecreation of internet banking!

After seeing the prices charged by LHS, I can see that I'm getting a great bargain by buying from overseas.

I'll post to the forum when my package arrives!

Jerrah,

I noticed your post in the other forum, Tower have just put the price up to $409, so Sally budget an extra $10US (about $13.30 Aussie)

I am 28 and have havea few cars over the last 2 years. The reason that i was asking about the guy in Canberra is that i like to spend money in Australia if possable rather than in another country and this Guy i think his name is Mark fron mrc model car partsHe has been really helpful and he said that he has savage parts comming in all the time as for apersonal message i am not sure on how to do them as i am only new to this. I just wonder why every one recommends towers so highly???when we can get the same stuff in OZ maybe $100 dearer but what sort of after sales service do you get if any thing goes wrong (hopefully it wont) it could take up to a month or more before you are back racing, where at least buying your car here you can get replacement parts quicker.

But that is justmy thorghts

Have fun

Sally,

Mark does a great job and if you have a look on our home page you will see that MRC Model Car Parts are a site partner.

Mark cannot buy HPI products from the local HPI Distributor as he "doesn't have a shop front"... this is how ridiculous the Australian RC market is. Mark has to bring it all in through other channels and more power to him.

As for Tower, there is no disputing the savings that can be made by buying from them - it is definately more like $300 than $100. The after sales is excellent. I have had to return goods and it is always handled very professionally. DSI (the Australian Distributors for HPI) have been better than the previous distributors, however in the event that you need parts, a 10 - 15 day turn around from Tower will not necessarily be worse than the local suppliers. It depends what they have in stock, and what DSI have.

Buying from Mark at MRC, or Tower, is basically risk free in my opinion. Tower will save you some bucks, and by supporting Mark you are supporting Australian small business, while avoiding the stupidity of local distributors.

So, the decision comes down to this:

 1.
Buy from Tower and get the goods is 15 days for under $700. After Sales, while it may be good, is from the US so you will always have a 20-30 days turn around if you need to return things. As far as a Model Truck goes, most things that break are a result of the driver however, and not a "Warranty" item.

Buy from MRC and get the goods in 2 days for $930. Check with Mark as to how he handles "Warranty" issues.

Unfortunately Sally, the call is yours.....

As For $1300 for a savage that is just criminal the truck that i am intrested in is $935 COMPLETE(buying in Australia)

Star Guitar said that he got a 25 RTR from towers complete for $835 All that I am saying is for an extra $100 $150 you can get it here in OZ I spose that I have made the choice to spend the extra money here and support the little guys in Australia Just remember the more we spend in Australia the more Australian jobs it creates and hopefully more people will get involved in this hobbie. i didnt relise that mark had any thing to do with thisforum as every one talks about towers so much and I didnt see any advertising for mrc model car parts I just hope that australians start to support local guys. As for DSI i found them to be VERY rude when i spoke to them they were not intrested i talking to me because i wasnt a shop ( great for customer relations) but then everyone has something different to say

Maybe you should get in touch with Mark and ask him to put an advert at the top of your page just like towers then maybe people will support the "little guys" just a bit more well at least know that there are other reliable people around but once again that is just what I think

Hi guys Just thorght that I would tell you that I made the purchase of my new truck today. I did go with Mark (mrc model car parts)he offered me great advise and was REALLY helpful and friendly. I should get the truck on Tuesday YES I will be taking Wednesday off work to run it in But the boss will think I have a DEADLY Illness that no one should be exposed to. (hahaha)

OH buy the way on the warranty issue with mrc model car parts He offers full manufature warranty with all the parts that he has to sell you can send the broken part to him and he will chase up the problem with his supplier. this guy has an amazing amount of parts.

He also said that he is hopefully opening a shop in the next few weeks. Hopefully he can give local hobbie shops a run for there money but he really is specialising in HPI parts.

I am glad to see that mrc is a "site partner" he deserves to do well.
