Pro4 should arrive today I hope

I need to get a radio set for it though, and I am currently torn
between the Futaba 3PM-FM and the JR XS3

Futaba has a TINY Rx, 10 model memory and its $290 from LHS

JR is synth and doesnt need xtals, has a much larger rx, has a 50 lap
timer, lower power usage and is around $350 at LHS but i can talk
him down to around $325. Priced this at rcmart.com last night and its
around $255 delivered, but then you have issues if there is a problem
with it and really i want it this weekend...

Anyone got any first hand experience with either or both of these and
can comment on which would be better?

I have seen the XS3 rx mounted in a pro4 and it has to stand on its
end as it is so much bigger, which I didnt really like the look of...

having all the frequencies in a certain band eg 27or 40 mhz is a big plus especially if you race at a club. frequency clashs are easily fixed with turn on a dial and stabbing a few buttons on the xs3.

All GT7s come in opaque case. Clear cases only seen as preproduction versions and they were never sold.

How much are they changing hands for now?

AHh
I got it around the wrong way then
so it is the original case

it was $250 and has the big capacitor, deans plug for motor and
battery, and shottky diode on a pcb by the looks in the wires
wrapped in heatshrink

Not a bad price for "new"... just consider it getting the Deans+labour "free".

Yeah the PCB Schottky is Novak's new wiring loom, that's de-rigeur on the GT7 to stop it blowing up. The first GT7s didn't have that and there were lots of "incidents".

Novak's even recommending the PCB Schottky for all other ESCs, they gave one 'free' with the Cyclone I got back from US this yr. Before its just a loose diode.

Bit on the chunky side though... still haven't decided to use it yet.

Forgot to ask... is it an "Australian Delivered" unit??

The last Oz-del'd SS5800 I got came plastered with foil stickers by the importer. (Without those stickers they don't want to hear from you if you have a problem.)

If you have the foil stickers, don't hit them with motor spray...

No no no, not the Novak factory stickers.

On the SS5800, HEI stuck them to the side of the ESC heatsink and also onto the endbell segment of the motor. And also on the box.

Its about 3cmx1cm black printing on silver foil.

D'oh. Wonder if its a grey-import...

At the very least HEI would put their sticker on the box outside.

hey cruzn2, where did you bought your XS3? From the pix, it is the newer 10 model memory 27MHz model right? I've been looking all over the place for those newer 27MHz models, but all I could find is the 40MHz ones.
