Hi... as u know.. i bought my savage second hand.. however.. when
i got it.. i had all the screws... now.. after a few days of park
bashing.... ive lost the screws for the skid plate.. they are the ones
circled in yellow... IM SURE i had them there in the first place.. coz
i have pictures!.. i have not tried to screw any new screws in.. apart
from taking off one from the rear plate and then adding it to the
front.. BUT.. it doesnt thread through
?.. is this screw important?.. ive put the one i took out from the back .. back where i got it from!..

also.. note the red circle.. is a screw needed here.. ive never
had one!.. seems to be the shaft for the steering arms.. the other
one.. which has the spring on it is screwed.. but not this one!???

Fire,

All of those screws are important and shoud be replaced ASAP. The two yellow circles are the primary screws holding the alloy chassis plate to the diff bulkheads. Obviously the screw in the steering post is a must.

They are M4 x 12mm - the yellow's are coarse thread, plastic taping screws, the steering post is the same screw but in a fine metal thread.

Chris

its called SuperGlue, don't be afraid to superglue the screws where they go into plastic.

Works great especially when your hole's threads are a little bit stripped, superglue will mend the threads.

I'm suprised you can get the screw out after using superglue.

Given how often my Savage skids have been off - I wouldn't anything held on too well.

I have the alloy chassis braces, and alloy skids - and I regularly
check and tighten my screws, and I haven't lost many. None from
underneath.

Start losing too many in the front and all sorts of things will probably start going wrong..

u guys are forgetting a couple of things why not use the fine thread in
spots were the couse thread is?? bcos fine thread hads more grip. i
changed all my screws to fine thread on my truck. not 1 of them has
wobled out. and no nead for super glue. but still use thread locker on
metal to metal screws.

I Just looked on my savage, your screws that are shown in that picture are like this:

Should be:

-*

Also, there is nothing to screw into where you have the screws set up so your trucks screw configuration is immensly screwed up. I'd advise checking through your manual, looking at what screws are where and order all the screws and replace them. It cost me $5 for a bag of 20 screws, so it shouldnt be too much for you.

I looked in the manual for the screws that connect the rear end to the tvps. The screw that is directly behind the inner four shocks. I looked in my manual, found the part number and got a guy from Mr Toys at springwood to order it for me, and funny enough, the screws are from GS Racing.. And ive forgotten to put my GS Racing decals on my Jeep
.

Ah well they can wait till my next body.

Well, instead of searching around you COULD go to your hobbyshop as i suggested and simply order the screws required for the rebuild... Its a lot less hassle as well
