ok oops! look what i've done. Don't know how...

Just wondering if there is a stronger one than the stock 21?

Also while the truck is in small bits, what else should I upgrade to make it stronger/better?

Thanks,

Yeah front diff.

It could have been either driving it in rwd or the new dual brakes...

LOL... welcome to the club Morphy.

Mine in the front looked about the same as that... the back one was only missing 2 or 3 teeth.

Have you done the diff mod? I thought the diff mod would help spread the pain better. I've been told the way to prevent it is to keep off the throttle during landings.

Doing the mod now and found that the spider pins are eating into the diff casings. Luckily all the gears are fine although the rear diff had bugger all grease in it

Yeah... I had the same issue with the plastic diff casings. I'll certainly be interested in seeing the feedback from Husky and tOiletduck about their new alloy versions.

anywhooo.. yeah.. when i land and thottle is on... sounds CRAP!!!.. so
now i let go of the thottle when i land.. but sometimes.. it lands on 2
wheels.. and it sounds like a massive crack.

hmm.. my savage is in bits now.. my pinions still look awsome, the
ticking sound stopped after i replaced my 43tooth bevel gear!!!

hey.. supposingly the ones from SC store are different to hobby man's
.. (they are less round or something).. get them from overseas.. (ask
husky,, he told me somewhere on this forum)

PS. are you gonna be ordering anything from overseas.. if so.. let me
know if u wanna go in with a group shipping thingy..
.. i need a few
small gears / lube and oil.. , and without a credit card, its hard to
buy stuff

Hard braking is really bad for the 13 tooth gears in savage diffs. When
you brake hard you have a large gear ( the crown wheel ) being driven
by the trucks wheels and fowards momentum , but the 13 tooth gear (
pinion ) is being held firm by the brakes and then you end up with an
over running situation where the crown skips over the pinion. I belive
this is why I have damaged 2 fronts and none in the rear. My brakes are
now set quite light, just enough for control in the air
and after
doing this I havent lost a 13 tooth yet, in 2 months of diving and
bashing hard

The "new" bevel gears are rounded at the end of the teeth. I am yet to break on of these and i broke 3 stock ones!!!! The diff mod wont help this. Soften brakes and dont land with the throttle on

We got the golden horizons cases. $30US each from savage central, they should be here tomorrow

I posted some pics on SC showing the differences. Maybe skidd could post some pics. I know he ordered some from SC(rounded) and some from hobbyman(sharp, old, easy breakers)
.

My new ones are in the truck, but i might take a pic this week when i strip it down
