hsp crawler thread

hi all, my new hsp crawler got here today and went for the first crawl. so far the standerd esc's drag break was enough to hold it anywhere it would go so it wont be upgraded for a while (untill it stops working). the tires look grippy but aren't very crash hot:mad: and the foams are soft, very soft actually but hold the wheight of the rig. the suspention is pretty sh!tty and the torque twist is massive and the chassis sits too high. the tires rub on the lower link and the body so the body will need some trimming. it goes almost 80 degreas up before it rolls backwards. it has no steering angle (about 10-15 degreas). and the gearbox is essentaily a cheap knock-off of the ax10 gearbox. all in all it's about what you would expect from hsp. so, here's some pics (forgot the camera when i took it for a run)

i'm ordering an scx10 conversion chassis in the next few days and i will also sell my nitro car and get some 1.9's. i went to the hobby pit stop at browns plains and i saw the scx10 for the first time and i was going to buy one there and then but don't have anywhere near enough. then i asked them if they had an scx10 conversion chassis and they thought i was talking about slot car, when they realized i was talking about the crawler the AXIAL rep. said i would have to get all the individual part numbers, and at that piont i was thinking, he's the axial rep. and he doesn't have a clue about the scx10 conversion chassis? so i tried explaining to him what the conversion chassis was but he still had no idea so that's why i'm buying from America.
yay, i sold my nitro and will be getting some 1.9's when i get the chassis.
Well its probably because there isn't a conversion kit as such. You need to buy to the chassis seperately to the kit which has a part number and any other axial parts needed for the conversion. Here's an ax10 to scx10 conversion. But be aware that while your truck and the ax10 look similar, some things maybe different: http://axialracing.com/wordpress/2009/05/12/convert-your-ax10-to-an-scx10/

yeah, but i measured up the bits of my crawler and they are the same as the ax10 measurements i was given so it should work.

Oh no it won't. The Axial and the HSP are 2 completely different cars. The Axials are both designed with inboard mounted motors and not the gearbox mounted twin motors as the HSP is. I have both and have them sitting next to each other and I have compared the AX10 images also and have come up with the conclusion that unless if you have a AX10 kit or the Scorpion, you're out of luck sunshine. You're better off buying a SCX10 kit or RTR. I bought mine as a RTR version minus electrics from the US and have landed it in Oz for less than $300. Have a think about it.

But do any of these sales reps actually have any clue!? I hope you did tell him that you have a HSP and not the AX10... Because both are completely different cars.

dude, the hsp crawler is the same as the ax10 ffs, it is 1/10 like the ax10, the axles are the same size as the ax10 they both have chassis mounted motors the tires are 2.2s and even look like the ax10s. do not come on MY thread and post smart @$$ coments about MY crawler which YOU obviously have no idea about so keep the carp to you're self and get youre facts straight:mad:!
Mate his just offering his advice i think you went a little over board but if you want to try it go for it if YOUR happy with what YOU have been told do what you want we wont tell YOU what to do just offer YOU advice...

Cheers brad
well, now that we have that sorted my new esc got here today and went for a drive and drove over a plastic container with bad results! the front left steering hub poped out and the dog bone phreaded the rest of the hub so it is now in three peices with the wheel and steering knuckle on the ground:( so i will order some replacements. also some good news, i'm getting an scx10 honcho:peace: i just need another $95 and i've got it.

They may look the same but quality of materials of the HSP compared to the Axial is pretty crap hence the price. You might be able to gamble on trying axial parts. Let us know how you go.
well it was actually a cheap fix, i just used some locktight and stuck it back together and swapped it with one of the back hubs. hopefully i won't have any trouble with an scx10.
You know I dig what you're doing with this truck. Its your choice. You got the truck you wanted.

and an Axial AX10:

either you got your beer goggles on when you're browsing or you need thicker glasses so you can see the difference. fact is these 2 cars are not the same! as proven above. AX10's drivertrain in mounted inboard on the chassis and the HSP's got gearbox mounted motors x2 and have nothing in the chassis other than electrics mounts. So I can't see the conversion work and the only way you'll have a SCX10 is if you go and buy one complete car.

Now who's got their facts straight and who has no idea? I'll leave the judgement for all forum members. Oh, and before you OD and post anything that you might regret posting, learn some manners and forum etiquette and rules as found here: http://www.ausrc.com/forum/misc.php?do=vsarules

dude, you're still wrong, my hsp crawler is a 1/10 which, if you want i will post up pics of the single, chassis mounted motor unlike the 1/8 you are refering to so i do have my facts straight as it is my crawler i am talking about, not you're crawler and they are obviously to completly different scales and types. im trying to explain to you the differneces that are obviously seperating our two crawlers but if you want to launch personal attacks like "either you got your beer goggles on when you're browsing or you need thicker glasses so you can see" then i will recomend :ban: as youre not putting very positive post nor do you seem to be wanting to understand the differences. once again, i will take photos of my crawler if you have a problem. i am sorry if this offends you but i'm trying to get my point across.

Well I can see you're a very rude young fella with your attack on GV which I believe you initiated.......It appears obvious that this thread has turned into a pi#%ing contest of your starting. I don't know about a ban but the way you are heading I believe the action nescesary would be to lock the thread......
