Ok here's what I've decided to do, mainley because it was just going to get thrown into the spur gear but also just to make it look better! From what I can tell range is still good, although my batteries are freshly charged so time will tell what effect it has had.

(I'm supprised AUSRC didn't start this topic...)

nice.. but i tried that and comparing to the setup i currently got.. it
doesnt work as good.. but realistically.. it worked in a MASSIVE park
till i could barely see it.. (i was using CB radios to navigate it with
my brother
.. ... and then i tried my current setup and i got heaps
more distance..

heres mine :

TIP : NEVER CROSS ANTENNA WIRE!.. keep it running in one direction and try not to cross it over..

that thing from the fuel tank is NOT the antenna.. its a lever for easy re-fuelling
.. very handy when a body is on!

so where does your antenna run to? got a better pic?

I ran mine so far away that I could not tell which way it was facing (or that it was a car!). I guess that having a good fm radio might have helped...

well.. if u mean where does it run on the car.. well it just
comes out of the normal antenna jack thingy.. and then goes to that
purple thing at the front.. and wraps itself up.. (drilled holes
on the side)!..

and.. i have the same stock remote as u.. and yes.. both ways = work
till u can barely see them... but i used CB radios (walkie talkies) to
navigate it with my bro following the car... i mean.. i drove it past
all the hills in a MASSIVE park.. works awsome....

Regardless...both work till u can BARELY see the car.. so both = fine!..

i wouldnt be too fussed with the antenna.. unless ur flying a plane or
something.. and u wanna MAKE SURE U HAVE reception.. with the savage..
it'll work any way!!..

i just like my way of hiding my antenna under the body..

Hey I feel mildly insulted
There is nothing stock about my radio...

Now I see what you've done to your antenna. Looked and looked at the other pic and missed the BIG PURPLE THING STICKING OUT THE TOP! brhaa! think its time to go have a beer....

I tries that antena "trick" when i got my new radio. worked well but i prefer having the aerial stick out the back of the truck

ahahah morphy.. i thought u saw that purple thing and wanted to know where the wire came from..

Husky.. no doubt about it.. if the antenna is up high .. u get the best
result.. but breaking antenna pole thingys is a problem.. i had it on
for like 2 runs.. and it broke
.. so now antenna "trick" is more then
ample..

sorry morphy.. i thought u have the "stock" HPI radio..

i have a 25 so it came with it.. .. u got an SS!.. what radio u got?

This is a good thread.....

I LIKE IT!!!

I have done something similar to Morphy in as much as it is still in the antenna pipe and wrapped around the bulk heads/shock tower thingys.

Chris.

Yeah we saw skidds idea a few couple of weeks ago at the knox bmx track. He has drilled a hole in the back window for the ant. Actually this can be seenin thesepics of his (taken from his members ride post):

I prefer the good old through the top of the body style. It looks "True RC" and i dont have any problems with it that way, considering my savage doesnt stack it all the time.. mainly because i can jump level and it doesnt flip from high speed turns.

As long as you can control your vehicles, theres no need for antenna mods and things.

I agree with Peedee, as long as you can control the truck enough not to roll it and then rip the antenna its fine as it is..

Why do you all think EVERY single rc car has its antenna sticking out the top for? Why does the radio's antenna stick high up, instead of it being retracted all the time?

sorry SG we cant all drive as well ay you
OUR trucks actuallydo flip and roll and therefore we like to see alternate solutions for the aerial location.
