I received my two Magnetic Mayhem motors today, but I have discovered
that one of the ends had come off. (the end with the + and -ve tabs.)

Whilst trying to fit the end back into the can I managed to remove it
completely - and now three washers have fallen out. Two fibre ones like
that you'd use with a PC mainboard, and one that looks like a piece of
circuit board (round with a hole in the middle of it.)

Could anyone point me at some instructions on how I put the motor back together again?

In an ideal world, the armature is "centered" in the magnetic field.

Take all washers off... and put 1 fibre washer right next to the commutator (the copper contacts bit that the brushes touch).

Put arm back into the can & reassemble. It will have lots of freeplay without the extra washers.

1) Spin the arm with your fingers... and watch it center itself between the 2 motor bearings. Do it a few times to confirm then note that position down.

2) Once you've done that, put the washers back on the arm to keep it centered in the same position.

You might have to T&E a few times steps 1 & 2, but that's all there is to it.

Thanks Zoomer. We got it back together again - any suggestions how to press the can tabs back so it holds it tighter together?
