Do it your self shock socks.

ok. after recently having broken one of my shocks because a peice of
bark got lodged in my6lb anodized purple shocks.. i went over a jump..
and damn.. my sping is deformed badly!

ive replaced the spring.. and now seeked shock sox..

they were a little pricey for me from USA..

so i decided to make my own:

1) go to a store like lincraft and buy LYCRA, it was like $3.00 for me (for the minimum (2meters x 20 centimets))

2) Cut strips 6cm wide, and slightly bigger then your actual spring.. (u need to tuck it in on both ends)

3) get your mums/ missus sewing machine,

my mums one has a stretch stich setting.. so i used that!..

4) fold the strips in half (as in.. the same way you would wrap the spring)

5) mark out 2.25 cm from the folded corner.. draw a ling

6) sew together..

7) do it 8 times

DONE
..

i havent mounted them on the truck yet.. but heres some pics.

thanks!

also..

it took me 2 hours to make the lot.. but like 40 minutes of that was learning how to use the sewing machine!

mum had to show me where all the string and peddal thing go and how to load it
..

my first attemp was a shocking.. it was crooked..now i learnt to mark
the 2.25 cm from the corner in HEAPS of places.. to keep a straight
line!

Man my mom doesn't know how to sew so my dad taught me to use the sewing machine.

Not a bad tip. I chose the color pink. Really makes my Savage look macho.

Rod is definatly not the stock one. Stock is very sloppy and there a thousand different adjustable ones you can use. Washers are a good idea to reduce friction and loose a bit of slop.

Hey Fire great job mate.
Even better if you can put your bored Granma to work and sell her handywork... I'm sure there will be quite a few people on here who would buy them.

Me included.

ahha.. what the hell..

i didnt think i uploaded that servo ballon thingy..

i was uploading it to another place (so i thought)..

must of got confused, and uploaded it here.. oh well.. no point getting rid of it now:

and Sherbrodski:

i have no idea about what you asked. i got this truck as is, so i dont
know whats stock.. but husky has already answered that
..

i made myself another set of blue shocks before
!

im going to buy more lycra and get grandma to make some more.. she insists!

TIP: the stich setting.. dont make it too short.. make it a
middle length stich, otherwise if you pull it a bit, it rips the
material!.

Also, if the lycra is "getting caught" in the sewing machine and being
a pain.. sticky tape the lycra to paper and then fold it as
normal, and stickytape the other side.. it gets rid of the STRETCH when
stiching

Thanks for the kind words

It looks like it was just the rod that they had available when the fitted the servo saver mod. I don't see any real advantage to that particular rod over a stock one.
