I noticed this article
on Savage Central, where the author is selling complete "grade 8"
hardened hex screw kits for the Savage. Sounds like a good idea - and
would put an end to my screwdriver destruction.

Do you think this would be a good deal for the price $33US including shipping? (unsure if that includes shipping to Australia)

Jerrah,

Glens "Getscrewed" Kit is used by many people and his kit quality is excellent. Everyone that has used it has said it is excellent and has recommended it to anyone asking whether its worth it or not.

Also, his screws are much better than the stock savage screws.. *Stockers are crappy*

No i havent, but when the majority of my screws strip out.. their fine at the moment, but when it happens i will be converting to Glens kit. I've just heard its pretty good from a lot of the more known members on savage central.

Jerrah, maybe if you get the kit you can review it.

I'm considering it - but then again it might be cheaper to just go down
to the local trade Hardware store and buy them locally. (After all the
sizes are known...) I'll have to work out the approximate value of 120
high tensile hex screws, vs the $55AUS it'd cost me to import them.

I will ask around a few of the nut and bolt shops when I get back to
Brisbane and see what we can do. I do know from past experience they if
it is an odd item, for example the long bolt that goes through each
shock tower, they have a minimum order. I had bent one of mine and when
I asked the nut and bolt place to track one down they said they could
sell me a hundred of them ..........

How many people would be interested in a locally sourced kit ?

Based on that Savage Central post I will build a list of the required screws and send it off to Small Parts and Bearings tomorrow. I will see if they can put a kit together. They definately have the screws, it will be interesting to see how much.

I emailed the man behind the 'get screwed' kit, and he said he has
stock and can ship them to Australia (4-7 days delivery) for $40US.

He also said he has shipped more of them to Australia than all other countries combined!

Chris,

If you can email me the list I'll also send it off to a bolt supplier here in Melbourne who I've done some work for in the past. Can't hurt to get a few different prices, but to ensure we are comparing apples to apples we all need to be working off the same list.

I'm assuming you can 'get access' to my email address.

Are they all hex heads? Allen type? You know what I mean? Or are they just screws?

LOL... I was just looking at those, but don't pay more than USD $20.95 as that's how much they cost direct from the supplier.
