Gidday,

If anyone has an Epic, please do me a favour.

With the carby opening wide open, let me know the gap measurement for the low speed needle jet, when you observe it through the open carb. If you know how many turns out you are at this setting, please also let me know.

Also, where is the low speed screw head sitting in relation to the housing - eg flush, just in, just out etc.

The LSN on these engines is a real bugger to set but the pain is long gone when these baby's start to perform!!!

Cheers all,

Steve

Steve, have you found the correct settings for this engine yet? this is from tower-hobbies;

Break-in settings: High End Main Needle - 4.5 turns out
Low End Needle - 2.5 turns out

I would think after break in that the low end needle would need to be about 2 turns out...

Thanks Will,

I've actually got the engine running fairly well. I think my LSN is probably about where you suggest.

Steve,

A little off topic but the TNX is at Tower end of April. I wonder how the OS .18CV-RX is going to handle what is still a big truck. On paper the EPIC .18 is still streets ahead of this OS engine - which is suprising knowing what the "CV-RX" model numbers have traditionally stood for - racing spec style engines.

Anyway, I am really happy to hear that the Epic is preforming well.

Ausrc,

As you would know from experience, the stock FS18 was fun, but didn't really kick any butt in the performance stakes.

The OS .18 will probably be a pretty good alternative, given that the .15 really beefed up your Terra (remember, that truck you used toown!!)

However, the Epic really is a performer - I raced against Rob's stock Savage .25 last weekend and kept up with him (although he was running quite rich to keep the temps down, but then again, so was I.). Where the Savage did out perform the Terra / Epic combination, was it'storque and power to the ground performance coming out of corners.

By the way, if anyone is thinking about getting the RCRaven triple rate springs, you wouldn't be sorry. The combination of an RC Raven dual rate spring on an Integy piggy back shock is really working for my Terra Crusher -itlands nicelyafter small jumps, when with the stock suspension setup, used to land on the front wheels and forward roll every time. Still to try it outon a big jump though, but I'm expecting good results.

Cheers,

Steve

The OS .18 is a beast! its in the low 2hp range. The TNX is 3-4 pounds lighter than the crusher remember... Here read this preview by Kerry G from wild hobbies:
