Just got my hands on one of these ford bronco bodied CR01 crawler chassis's.
I really enjoy putting these together, rtr are boring!
anyway i am looking for recommendations on replacement for the standard brush type 540 J motor, looking to go brushless, but after a torquey motor.
Any recommendations?

Have you gotten it running yet? :)

IMHO with CR01's planetary reduction... you don't need that torquey a motor. 540 is decent fit, or TorqueTuned if there's a spare one lying about... or get a 45 or 55t if you're really crawling.

Can't see any real benefits of going brushless in CR01, brushed works well enough & less complicated. A good ESC helps... been hearing a lot of praise for hobbywing 1080 lately.

One thing with CR01 is... there's so many alloy options you'll triple the price of the kit adding even half of what's available :D so far I'm resisting...
