Hi

I'm thinking of buying my 7 year old an rc monster truck for Xmas and thought I'd ask on here for some recommendations before wasting my money on something I have basically no knowledge on.

I'd like to spend up to $150 but I'm not sure if there's anything decent around at that price point. I'm after some recommendations on brands, models and places to buy. This would be his (and mine) first rc car so don't want to spend a huge amount of money but at the same time don't want to waste my money if there's nothing decent for that price.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yeah, you'll need to spend just a tad more. If I was super limited in budget, I'd consider these.....

Something by ECX in 1/18 scale might be ok.

HPI, even better, but still small at 1/18.

Tamiya, but more of a Stadium Truck and 1/10 scale makes this the larger one of these three.

All a little over your budget and there's still postage, but RC Hobbies are pretty decent with their rates.

Everyone will hate on it but for $150 you could buy a HSP monster truck. For the price U think they can't be beat. My son has a HSP buggy. Was brushed electric and he loved it. Until he drop my brushless one and then i had to make his faster. But honestly the only parts i replaced was the strut towers to the stronger billet alloy ones. It's now brushless on lipo and going strong. My son is 5.
