5t steering fades only while truck is in motion

    fellas
Got a bit of an issue I havnt come across before and looking for some advise

    5t baja
    Standard hpi steering servo
    Spektrum dx2s radio

The truck performs fine for the first 3 mins or so then I notice that the steering fades while the truck is in motion
When I stop the truck beside me ( motor still running ) the steering has full throw left and right, take off again and it has the turning circle of a road train

I originally thought the battery must be buggered and going flat almost straight away and that's when the steering would fade but I have just purchased a brand new and larger capacity battery and it still does the same thing

Steering works perfect if the truck is still and I lift the wheels off the ground and also when it's on the ground, it has full throw and is very fast to do it

I don't think its a range issue with the radio as it does the same thing weather the truck is beside me or up the road

    Any ideas??

possibly something loose perhaps steering servo saver .. etc, look throughout the steering components to see any sign of wear

Does it have a steering servo saver? on my 1/10 nitro monster truck I was having issues with this. Works fine in the air but on the ground it won't move. It turned out to be the steering servo saver mechanism and the tension nut was loosening off. This is one from my truck.

As you can see when the servo moves it separates so the wheels stay the same and the servo just moves half of the mechanism.

    Thanks for the input guys
It was a loose servo saver
I've tightend it up a bit and it's better but not 100%
Probably the best I can get from a stock baja setup anyway

    Thanks again fellas

I've found once they have been doing that they tend to slip easier. The corners get rounded a little making it easier to slip. I replaced mine with an alloy one.

Have a look at my steering mod I did. http://www.largescaledownunder.com.a...5397#msg145397

The fade you're getting is in the saver arm and what it's connected to. Also the receiver box gives a bit of flex.

Flex can be seen in this vid

    Cheers mate
I just read your thread and watched your video
That seems to be the problem I'm having
It's funny, I have a 5b and another 5t and they don't do it, just this one
All good tho, thanks for the input
That's a nice truck you have there btw

    Cheers bud.
I only noticed mine after the lipo and servo mod, the torque was enough to fatigue the plastic and got worse and worse.
