Would be good to get over there one day, probably take me all weekend to find the place though, if at all, haha, I'm not very good at finding my way around the city.
Melbourne Off Road Radio Car Club also has their club race day on this weekend as well, would be better for both clubs if race days were on different weekends.
MORRCC and us run on different weekends so if people wanted to race at both tracks they can.
Also we will be at our track Saturday morning from 10:00 for a couple hours, so if anyone can come down and give us a hand to get the track ready for Sundays race day that would be great.
Jobs to do.
- Rake and sweep the track.
- Install mesh fencing on the drivers stand.
If you have a broom and/or plastic rake can you bring them with you to do the track please.
Thanks
Col.
Don't forget our race day this Sunday 26th Oct. Nominations from 9:00 and racing starting at 10:00.
We will also be at the track Saturday from 10:00 for a couple of hours getting the track ready for Sunday and doing the fence on the drivers mount. So if you can come down for a while and give us a hand to get the track ready for you to race on the help would be great, bring a broom and plastic rake if you have them.
Thanks
Col.
We are at the end of Eastgate Ct Wantirna Sth. it is open to use, but please don't use it when it is wet. Not sure what scale you run but 1/5 not permitted on the track.
Most of our info and updates are put on our Facebook page. Search. Eastern Model Car Club, and like us.
We have a $50 yearly membership Jan to Dec, but if you join up now it will take you through to Dec 2015.
Also to support the club, help on track prep days (usually the Sat before race days) and working bees.
We still need to get track edging installed and the pit lane tables installed.
Hope you can drop by on our next race day on Sunday 23rd Nov. Have a look or even better join in the racing. $20 Non members or $10 for members.
Hope to see you there.
Col.
Thanks Col. Just went down with a mate and checked it out. Too big for my 1/10 buggy (or i need better suspension) but was good for my 1/10 truck. Again though my suspension isn't set up well for those jumps. Crashed a lot. Broke a rear knuckle. Took the knuckle off my buggy since it was the same and kept going. That was until i lost power to my rear wheels lol. Something has come loose. Picked up a bunch of rocks. They really unsettle the car when you hit them. Tidied up the tyres on one corner. Really needed a shovel though to put all the dirt and gravel back in the tyre. Don't think I'd be good enough to drive on a race day but I'll come down and check it out one day. I'll stick to using it when noone else is there lol. I'll swing you guys some money in the next couple of weeks. Speaking of the money. What does it get used for? Track repairs etc?
Hi GTOJOE
The track was built for 1/8 so the 1/10 do struggle. The SC 1/10 go well on the track though. If you have 1/10 electric there is the Knox 1/10 electric only club not far away in scorsby behind Bunnings on FTG road.
The membership money goes to several things insurance, council lease on the land, timing system, generator, track maintenance and to cover the money we have already put in so far to build the track and fence just to name a few. We still need money to buy a large water tank and to pay for the water and the list goes on.
Hope to see you on the next race day on 23rd Nov.
I'd still highly encourage you to come down for the races if you get the chance. I've attended the last two race days and can happily report it's been very casual as it's supposed to be for a bit fun; nothing intimidating about it at all. There is currently a good mix of new to experienced racers, so you'll fit right in.
We have to start somewhere right? Plus you will pick up a whole bunch from tips from fellow SCT drivers which are rapidly growing in numbers...
I don't drive a SCT myself but I'll promise, we won't bite.
Unfortunately mine is just a monster truck not a short course truck. I'm beginning to think I should have bought a SCT instead. The monster truck is great for just bashing around but terrible on the track. My 1/10 nitro buggy was bottoming out and hitting rocks which sent it all over the place. At one point it bottomed out and the nose hit a rock and it flipped over. I will be putting sway bars on it and might look at making the front stiffer and see how it goes. The .16 engine is a little weak/slow as well. I brought 3 RCs with me and to be honest the best one for the track was the electric (brushed) 1/10 buggy. It's far too slow and the suspension sucks as well but it has reverse :roll:which makes things so much easier LOL. I think I'm going to look into a brushless SCT or buggy for this sort of thing.
Here are my toys. All cheap HSP crap LOL. The nitro buggy has no engine fitted in this pic obviously.

Going to be a big weekend for racing offroad in Vic, Shepp on Saturday arvo/night, then MORRCC & EMCC on the Sunday, lots of choice for Victorians this weekend.
Also could be another track out Dandenong way soon if what I read about goes ahead, more of a private set up than a club though, although people could become members for a fee & track work.
Plenty of choice this weekend, all the other clubs where running last weekend but got rained out so they have moved to this one. Be interesting to see how many turn up at each track.
Yeah the rain sure mixes things up for clubs, hopefully all tracks get a good turn out. I did read something on Facebook about a double header between Shepp & Sunshine but thats a fair bit of travelling for some people.
Well i bought a 1/10 brushless dune buggy thing and tried it on the track and it's a lot better than the nitro cars. I also found the 1/10 electric track behind bunnings and it was more suited. Think I'll go there until i get a 1/8 brushless car or when my mate wants to race his 1/8 nitro. Too many breakages on my smaller cars.
Next Race Day.
Mark in your calendars.
We are having an Aus Day racing day.
Nominations from 9am racing starts 10am.
Classes :
1/8th scale Nitro and EP powered Buggy, Truggy, Monster Truck’s
1/10th scale Short Course 2wd & 4wd
