    OK here we go
Unpacked all the parts and I am amazed at the quality of the mouldings and detail's
I have already built the king hauler the Aeromax and the globe liner but the detail in this new kit is brilliant.

    more parts and hardware

hundreds of tiny screws and circlips
and the usual pink shockies which will be stripped or painted.
I don't know why Tamiya keeps doing there shocks pink I have never seen a semi with pink shocks

I would very much like to. I built several Kenworth plastic scale kits and trailers in my younger days also did some cars and planes. These would be so much better though as you can drive them instead of just sitting on a shelf as my past builds did.

I currently have two truggys sitting here waiting to be driven once we get the EMCC track completed, if I loose the interest in driving them, trucks would probably be the next thing to have a go at.

    Started the build
first thing is to strip the anodising off the shockies
6 minutes in the caustic bath followed by a good wash with water
then clean up with a chux cloth and they look much better.

    Looking good.
Taking the anodising off the shocks, is that because you prefer the look with out it or another reason?

I removed the anodising just because I have never seen a full sized semi running around with pink anodised shocks
They may get painted again as I am thinking of painting the chassis and suspension when the chassis is completed.

Colour choice is my weak point I have been thinking of silver for the chassis and a two tone red/burgundy for the body
but I am open to suggestion's from other RCer's.

Thought that would be the reason and agree.
When I build my models I did the chassis and running gear in red. One model the cab was red/white and the other model the cab was white with wide blue stripe.

I think that your above colors sound good.

Fire Truck Red Chassis Rails...total realism...seen quite a few done this color....in real life, the red shows oil leaks and dirt really easily and makes picking up trouble spots a breeze....the de-anodized shocks look amazing...wish I had done mine that way now that I have seen it done
