Sounds like the pinion slipping on the motor shaft under load...when the car is off the ground, the load is reduced and the wheels turn, but as soon as the load is increased, the pinion turns on the shaft...could also be a slipper clutch if that unit has one
As far as I know, no one makes an upgrade for these diffs, they are not all that expensive and more of a novelty.
Most guys just replace the broken bits and get back to hammering these around the lounge room floor
