hey guys, recently i took my baja out for a spin, to realise it was hard to start.

after i got it to start, i went good for like 5 minutes, then it turned itself of and then proceeded not to start anymore.

(Both TX and RX batteries are good, failsafe off too)

thoughts?

its a walbro, and i went to the mower shop today and they didnt have any new gaskets...

the thing is, maybe the little hole in the fuel cap was clogged? because it would just die down, like not completely die, like drop to 1/4 of idle for 5 seconds and then die?

The dirt on the hole will do that too. Seen some gaskets on fleebay for $8 bucks. And while your at it, change the lower bearings as well. Their seals might have gone to crap too.

Another one is, the shaft that flips the butterfly on the carby might be worn out and can leak from there also. Get some foam earplugs from bunnings and cut them to size and make a hole through the middle and drive it down the butterfly shaft to stop the leak.

I don't think foam earplugs will give you full protection. Because foam earplugs will block all the sounds. If you want to hear other required sounds then you wont hear it. That is why foam and generic earplugs are not good fit to use. You need to use the custom ear plugs. It will fit to your ears. I will share some websites so that you can get more information regarding the custom ear plugs.

When you have opened up the carby replace the diaphragm and check to see if the end of the needle valve has rubber on it. This wears over time and causes erratic idle. While yr at it, cut 3 coils of each end of the metering spring, will give better mid range throttle response, the metering spring mod.

Another way to tell if diaphragm is stuffed is remove air filter and see if any fuel drips out the intake while engine is running.
If it does, shows diaphragm is foobar, and needs replacing and also needle valve.

I do reuse gaskets on the carby if i dont have any spare, but i remove them carefully, slowly and use a pressure tool and put carby in water or petrol to check for leaks under pressure...hope that helps

Ensure no play in the throttle shaft also and are u running the correct temp plug
