I heard, people who usually are into radio control hobbies are social outcasts, nerdy geeky types and if not then they are overweight and have no friends.

I once touched a woman, but then she asked me to leave.

Yeah that sounds ablout like you, no one else tho.

LST2 Mate!!! I Own Both.

The Losi is 3 Times the truck that the savage is
Cost BIG$$$ But hey you get what you pay for!! do you get a good FM radio with a savage to start with.... how about reverse? 2 speed gear box with selectable high and low range? twin steering servo's?
the list of improvements these have over a savage will cover just about every bit on the truck.

They can handle more beating than a savage!!
My last bash we took my savage, my new lst2 and my bro's savage (both savages are beefed up)
Anyway moral of the story, 15+FT jumps flat landing kill savages rather fast.
the losi LOVED it and begged for more, more, more MORE!!!!

LOL

ANYWAY JUST MY OPINION FROM EXPERIANCE.

Just some thinking out loud.

LST2 $1000 with JR XR3i, mach 26, pretty good stock

Savage SS kit $500

JR XS3 synthesised $200

reverse module $35 (I would never buy one but for the sake of bringing it up to LST spec)

Hitec 645 or 5645 steering servo $ 65 or $100 respectively (I would rather 1 good servo than 2 cheapies
)

3 speed transmission kit $80 (bugger the LST's hi lo gears. low gear is rediculiously low, should have been hi extra hi IMO)

so thats$880 or $915

Thats not bias as if I still drove my trucks I would go and get an LST2 tomorrow but that is a fairer comparison and the savage will leave you with a better radio, a 3 speed and enough cash left over to buy an SH28 or STS28

Not trying to bash savage (i own one) but after you do all that, you still have a truck that does not perform that well EG' handling wise etc.
just my opinion. from my own comparisons.
the losi is straight up sweet to drive with no mods straight out of the box,
took a few hundred $$ to make my savage feel at home to drive!! and it still tips on corners. HCG maybe the savage X will be better as it has a lower CG.
don't get me wrong i like savages but the losi was just so much better
plus the losi is so much easier to work on.
anyway just opinions

#36 ·
agree on the handling of the savage but thats an easy fix. My LST was good in the fact that it performed well out of the box and it was easy to work on, but it would not handle the jumps i did with the savage and it needed a few durability mods(keep in mind I had the LST not the LST2 which has the durability issues covered). My point was merely a financial $$$ for features
. From my experiences the LSt is a great general basher and the savage is great at jumping. However I also managed to beat revos and LST's at our local club races with the savage so the handling aint all that bad

Ive just installed some of the hard yellow Losi springs feels great now. the stock silver are good but they are no good for BIG jumping
here is my savage after jumping. the tank, my wing, body and custom half back is off the truck for the pic. the tank is dead,(done 2 tanks in 2 days) half back survived body stuffed wing a bit munched but ok lol 2 snapped shocks 2 bent shocks some chassis damage crushed original rollbar ripped screws out of rear shock tower destroyed yet another diff in it.
the lst2 came out with 1 broken part the engine support brace, everyone knows to upgrade to the dynamite machined one, i was testing out the original.
did....ok.. lol but as you can tell from the pics the lst2 came out still looking good.

here is my lst2 after same day, same jumps .

Here it is with the new springs ( i think they make it look tougher )

picture size must be 640 x 480 or lessEdited by: husky

The only thing that does that to savage shocks is hitting something
with them. Never had mine bend/break/spew open from just landing big
jumps, and i do plenty of big jumps.

Reverse - who needs it? just adding rotational mass that isnt all that important for big fields.

Dual servos - you have big heavy rims and tyres - savage gets by with one servo because the tyres are lighter.

Radio - in terms of a noob, AM/FM Synth/Crystal and features are a
non-issue. As long as it has 2 trim settings, on/off switch and
steering/brake/gas it does the job just fine.

Hi-lo selectable range - What is this? a radio shack RC? 3speed wins here

But hey, Im looking at getting an LST2 myself. Theyre both great trucks, just buy the one you can afford.

The A-Arm issues etc have been addressed on the lst2.

and those shocks bent and broke on the savage on good landings but hard ones i dont hit stuff with my trucks.
it landed on its ass real hard and mashed the tank. lol
oh well each truck has its pros and cons.
i like both... prefer the losi anyday.

personally i dont use high and low range. but it is cool for some rock climbing. it does that awesome too!
reverse it good too, what happens when your truck is way over somewhere while you are bashing, you run into something or get stuck, you gotta run over and turn it around, well i dont have too, i like that feature. it fits me like a glove. lol
my bro has the 3 speed i have the 2 speed in the savages. personally i like the 2 speed.
the radio.... it has ALOT better range than the stock hpi one. and my truck don't run away! yes i have a fail safe but i have never needed it, the savage went plowing into the water next to my house (salt water) a small bush blocked the signal. (no fail safe)
anyway yeah get what you can afford, and what suits your driving habbits.
thats the best way.

I think you guys are not taking into account traxxas trucks, the price of traxxas has come down and they are as cheap if not cheaper than most of there rivals, the only thing i though that was holding traxxas out of the market was it price, now that its priced perfectlyyou will see more and more of them around. The revo and tmaxx 3.3 would be a truck to look out for.

Just as reminder the biggest selling truck in the world is the t-maxx, just incase you guys forgot what is no.1

My penny worth

Any truck will require fixing at some stage as nothing is indestructable.

One thing i can say for certain is the LST/2 is the easiest truck to work on.

everything is easily accessible and you don't have to pull half the truck apart to work on it.

t-maxx and revo 3.3 should be an improvement but it will be interesting to see how they perform against the big block competition.

#47 ·
I wish i had some t-maxx or revo 3.3 in stock, i tried to take the one from toyfair but they wouldnt sell it to me.

twizm, as you see in usa traxxas is the biggest selling brand in monster trucks, now the reason why its not been as popular in australia is the price, ive spent vast amount of time speaking to wholesaler and trying to get the traxxas price down so they are with all the major competitors, and also eliminate the grey importers market which i think we have achieved, for example cheapest revo ebay is 875-899, our price is 849, free shipping and free battery and australian warranty you have to be stupid to buy itfrom ebaynow.

I dont favor any brand we just try to have the biggest range and lowest prices.

as i always say each to their own, everyone likes something different thats what makes earth so great.

At our track the savages are no match for the LST's. The fastest savage at our track runs a LRPz28spec2 and it still can't keep up with the LST's.

Most noticeable advantage is the LST soaks up the bumps while the savages bounce all over the place. Also the higher CG and narrower savage traction roll around most of the high speed corners.

if you plan on racing the LST2 would be the better option but if you are strickly going to bash buy the truck you like the look of and can get parts for easily because at the end of the day if you don't like it you won't use it.

I was orginally going to by a thunder tiger EK4 as it is a wheelie monster and over powered but the more i thought about it the more reasons i didn't want to buy it, but one look at the LST 6 months later and i had to have it.

i saw it at my LHS one week (the same week it was available in Aus), spent the next week researching it then bought it the week after.

I then discovered these forums and at the time there was only one person that had a LST on the forum REVREX. If it weren't for the LST i would not have found this forum and the many others i am now an active contributor too.
Alas my pocket might have some money left in it too....damn LST
i can't help hopping it up.

Pick up any US r/c mags and you'll see that traxxas have on average 10 pages promotin their product...I wonder if that has anything to do with their sales...???Dont forget that USA has more people than us...

Well guys i now have reason to put my savage back together... just
finished fully porting and polishing the old 21BB, and want to test it
out,

i was surprised the 21BB has nicer ports stock than the nitro star 25 has.

anyway guys the MGT is also a good truck, you just gotta put RPM arms on it.

most trucks are ok you have to spend money on whatever you buy.

man my lst2 is 2 weeks old and ive already spent $300 on it on hop-ups.

my savage is 2 months old and owes me about $1400 just in parts and repairs!!

my bro's savage is the same age and owes him more!!! just in parts repairs.
