After a bit of work I have created a scale drawing on illustrator of our track.
The traffic direction is anti clockwise and you can see where the tabletop is, the three tight turns are bermed corners and work very well.
Luckily we have scored a little bit more land at the bottom are and the grey line indicates the new fence line approximately.
I need to go and measure it accurately but you get the idea, I'm after a few ideas on how to change the bottom section of the track and mix things up a bit.
I figure I'll throw the ideas out to all for a look and would appreciate constructive ideas, I'm thinking the bottom berm will go hard down into the bottom corner and we work from there!!
Absolutely it will be metal/mesh and black.
Purely for the reasons of construction assistance, keeping the track running and getting the shape and lane config right I will knock one up out of timber.
That way I can cut, modify, lengthen etc and use it as a template to make the metal one from!
Could put astro turf on the up and down ramp part of the bridge or dirt up and down ramps and leave the centre steel mesh. Should keep tyre in good shape
Cars get stuck under bridges and it makes a marshals job much harder. Not to mention the added obstacles to get around and loss of vision from the drivers stand.
Just my thoughts.
With that last drawing with the table top/bridge just elevate the section after the bridge (making it a step up instead of a table top) and have it drop off after the bend before you go under the bridge again. A change in elevation would look the goods and make the entire track visible from the drivers stand.
did you hear that ****ers........tomorow is working bee, get your act together, your finger out of your ass, your day pass from the missus and starting drinking coffee from 4am
Hey guys, been away for over a week now.... really love the bridge idea, but got to say that Chris's elevation idea is a must have for it. Only thing i'd like to say is that we need to make sure that we don't create more maintenance for ourselves... all members that DO attend the work-bees will know how much of a pain this track is when it rain heaps.
Correct Franco.... I'm second guessing the bridge from a construction and cost point of ... We will see !!
We will be building some retaining walls first up as well ... Nailgun and chainsaw at the ready !
Well we had a planning session at Roko's tonite and we will leave the bridge out for now, there's a huge amount to do with the construction of a retaining wall and drainage as well as the cutting and spreading of a load of fresh material we secured.
The track at the stage will be another 35-40 metres longer with new jumps, elevated corners and drop off sections.
Could put some sort of hard plastic lining either side of the underpass of the bridge. So if any cars enter it at the wrong angle, they'll skim if the sides rather than grabbing on to it and spinning sideways. This will let them "shoot" through and not end up at 90degrees under the bridge, which in turn will not create a mass pile up!
You improved heaps mate a did a massive amount if work ...!!
We all did ... Sean, Jonny, Franco, Steve and myself !!!
Max as well driving the excavator .. 5-1/2 men ..... We all own Sean a massive thanks
