    My HK Baja (Rovan)

    Gday guys

Just thought i would start a thread on my own Baja Yes its a clone...

First things i noticed was Size lol cant belive i am only doing this now Its huge bigger than i thought and i have seen them before

I have been over almost every bolt on the whole thing and removed and locktied Where Required.

I did notice thou when i checked the wheels They are not the best quality bead locks i think i need to get my self a decent Set of rims ( Open to suggestions ) as when i go to tighten the Bead lock bolts some seem to be stripped so that is the only let down i have noticed so far.

Also i have noticed that the Ball joints like where the hubs connect to the Arms and a little bit loose i may end up getting new ball joints and some RPM arm all round.

I am still waiting on my Servos to Arrive i was hoping they would be here before the Long weekend but i guess that did happen, I also have a 3 ch radio.

People have told me to get a kill switch for the third CH but i have no idea what i am looking for i am reading the large scale section of the fourm alot and finding a lot of answers. Which is great.

Im open to adive on upgrades etc..... THIS isnt another CLONE thread I dont want to start a war...

Anyways Here are some Pictures of the Beast

    Cheers Brad

Hey Brad congrats on the purchase, it looks great. Your off to a good start go over all the bolts, get a killer bee kill switch from predator or psr.

    What servos did you get?

you need something like this as a kill switch.http://powerslideracing.com.au/index...oducts_id=1779

we can help you wire it up as it very simple.
also those rims are flimsy as well, try look out for some desperado''s that might pop up for sale here and there.
you might want to get a new carby, depending on the one you have, walbro 668.as those ruxiun carby's are a hit and miss thing.
also not sure about that model you have but you will need to get the hpi alloy diff.. as i would guess only that that might be plastic..
depending on your budget get your self some chassis brace's..,shock tower etc.

another thing you will need if your's does not come out with is a alloy clutch bell carrier. or the tr enclosed kit or something similar. worth every cent.

most important is the killswitch, the rest can come later as you break them.

''also you may need a second job'' these things can be a money guzzler

other than the thing's you will replace along the way.. good luck and have fun.

Well done brad! Yep get a killswitch from psr, the killerbee ones are expensive. Also the screws on the beadlocks go into plastic so if you overtighten them they will strip. You could get slightly bigger screws, the rovan ones are smaller than hpi ones. You will be looking for a new set of rear tiers in no time as the sidewalls on those ones are like paper. Looks good tho mate, look forward to having a bash with ya!

    Looks great Brad.
One suggestion, if you can replace the e clips holding the front arms on with hinge pins or similar, will be much better and easier to use than the fiddely e clips

Killer bee Is a bit more pricey but Kent definitely doesn't stinge out anywhere and if there are any problems he is always there to help.

With the rims you can go proline or stay with the 5star hpis it depends on what you want to spend.

Nice work mate. Do they come like 80% or 90% already put together?

What radio did you get? Is that a HK I see in the pics like my HK310? If so they are great value for money.

bet your busting to take it for a run?

Do you plant on changing the pipe for more noise or grunt?

And let me just ask about the motor.......is that going to stay gas or is there a brushless transplant around the corner??

Nice work dont forget more pics and def a video!

I think they come as white nylon. At least I have seen KM bajas come with white nylon arms. Rest is easy as a pot of boiling water and some orange clothes dye I would imagine.

sorry brad just noticed this thread LOL!

congrats and welcome to the world of large scale! through time you will discover what needs attention.

my suggestions is mesh mod the crankcase and pull starter, have a sparepull starter ready to go and dont be like me and get yourself a kill switch!

cant wait to see it in action!
