Faulty Spektrum AR6200 Receiver?

I'm very new to helicopter electronics but I've been an electronics enthusiast for the best part of 30 years. I just purchased a Spektrum DX6i with accompanying AR6200 receiver and I'm certain the receiver is faulty.

I've spoken to the mail order retailer and they agree, but I just thought I'd run it past the forum before I actually pack it up and send it back.

What it does is this: If I insert the "bind" plug and then apply power to any of the servo sockets the amber light on both the main and satellite receivers lights to what looks to me to be full brilliance. No flashing though as the instructions says it should do when it's ready to bind.

It gets more interesting than that though. If the applied power is below about 5 volts is behaves as I've described above. If the applied power is over about 5 volts the light on the main receiver lights very dimly and the light on the satellite receiver does not light at all.

Any opinions or anything else to try before I return it are most welcome. :)

I would hope the OP has had this issue well and truly sorted by now.
