    Best carby for the G230

    Hey you gasser gurus (yes Pete, that includes you)...

    I've got an old MA X-Cell Graphite (1005) and the carby was playing up heaps and it has been changed out for a temporary one but I need to replace the temp one for the correct one, so the question is;

    What's the difference between the Walbro WT-644 and the WT-643? And which would be better suited to my G230?

    I've read some posts on other forums that suggest the 644 is a boat carby and that the 643 is a heli carby, does that sound right? Or are they completely interchangable?

    Thoughts?

    Hey guys, I managed to get a few 644's from fleabay for only $20.

    Apparently the boat guys who use gasser pull the 644's off their PUM230s as the first thing and replace then with something bigger. This guy had about 10 of the buggers.

    Turns out the choke lever is very easy to remove so I'll see how the 644 goes for me. If not then I might hit Mike up for a 643.

    Patty, got s couple of spares for you as per your request also.

    Thanks Andrew
    I can modify it so it will turn into a 643 easily enough I have a 644 on my 231 specky it dosen’t seem to bother the performance but just knowing there is extra butterfly in there bugs me!! So I’ll do some work in the shed when I get them HEY PETE!!!! Hehhehehehe.

    Cheers Patty

    Yep, the removal of the choke butterfly was simple enough. Remove the one screw holding the butterfly onto the shaft and the once the butterfly is off the shaft just pulls straight out. It's only held in place by a small spring loaded ball bearing... and the butterfly of course.

    Really??

    I just figured it was on the air filter side of the mixture butterfly so air leaking wouldn't be a big deal.

    Should I put the shaft back in without the choke butterfly??

    True but all the crap is going to be sucked through the holes, see its un filtered then.
    Up to you on that one,it will still work good with the choke in

    Cheers Patty
