Well I'vesold all my RC stuff, awainting the $$$ to come through and can't decide on what model to get, the monsters are basically the same with different shells.

I'm torn between weather to get a monster (large wheels) or Stadium (medium wheels) has any one used the stadiiums wheels off raod, how do they handle?

Or wait for the 4WD baja?

So whats your opinion

4WD Baja (not available yet)

Also the FG Beetle Pro (I think this is no longer available)http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=20842

Out of interest I never like the look of the Marder, but seen pics of it with Stadium Truck wheels and looks a lot better, still not in the running for one..

Hi, we own a Smartech traveller same as FGmarder. we have put a 26cc big bor kit through the original zenoah 23cc engine and upgraded all servo's. locked rear and run slicks and use it as a drifter. so reliable and easy to start, cheap to run but we find the only bad thing is its only 2 wd. 4x4 would be nice as we would have left it on dirt then.

once you work out what you want to do with your truck whether its jumping it or drifting it because they all drive better on different surfaces. for what we do we love ours, drifting at high speeds is an unreal feeling.

this photo is still with the off road tyres.

For off road bashing you would be better off with the large MT tyres as they grip up a lot better in the dirt then the stadium wheels. The Stadium wheels are still fine for off roading but are more designed for a flatter surface such as grass ovals and more so onroad tracks. That is where they excel.

will the MT wheels fit the stadium trucks?? I was thinking about a stadium truck for general running on all sorts of terrain and leaving the jumps to my LST

cheers

wait bor the baja and other 4x4 models. The baja and beetle have my interest however I think the price will bowl me over when they are released here. Have always wanted an FG but the ontly thing turning me away was the 2WD. Have driven skidd's MT with the 23cc engine and its great fun but so uncontrollable off road. 4x4 is a must!

Attention : FG BAJA AND 4WD KIT/MODELS

To everyone who is planning on waiting for the Baja and 4wd models and kit from FG - I say don't wait as you are all waiting on something that may not come out for a long time. There is no release date and no pricing for those items and no indication at all as to when they will be released. In fact the 2006 additional catalogue showed the Baja back then in early Feb-March and still nothing.

Even though there is the 2007 Addition showing the Baja and the 4wd kit it does not mean that they are available. In fact if you look closely you will notice that there is no product codes for the Baja or the 4wd versions but everything else has a product code. That means that, as much as I hate to say it, it is just a prototype and has not gone to production.

So don't hold off on purchasing an FG model thinking that the Baja and 4wd are just around the corner because unfortunatley they are not.

Cheers

I remember seeing the prototype pics of the FG 4WD system and it was a
belt drive from the rear diff through to the front that went under the
main chassis plate. Looked like a design that was likely to
suffer significant issues if you were a hard 'basher'.

yeah, after seeing other models I guess they're stuck due to current design, if only the could implement shaft with centre gearbox like in the Savage or LST, never had any issues with that type of set up!

Hmmm a bug FG on ebay at the moment, will keep my eye on it

Saw a vid of a Kamitiro 4WD and it look great.. Nore expensive but seems it's all alloy..

Belt drive is better than shaft drive due to no loss of power down the drive train. The FG 4wd Belt system has been completely redesigned from the prototype that first appeared in the 2004 Catalogue. Its fully enclosed from dust and dirt and hard bashing would not have any effect on the belt as it is not connected to any suspension components.

Whether or not it is going to be more or less expensive to add the 4wd kit to a 2wd model, than buyinga 4wd model to start with, cannot be speculated as there is no pricing for anything , so no one knows if its gonna be expensive or not.Edited by: caad5

I think the original beetles/pro had an ABS bottom shell as well to keep the crap out like the Pajero model.I prefer the std beetle with the Marder style tyres then the stadium and MT version. The pro went with the 8 shock layout which makes the suspension far too hard and they handle much better with 4 shocks.

The Monster Beetle Pro has the same chassis as the Monster Truck. The shell and the body mounts are the only difference. However all Beetle models have been discontinued and are no longer available. I do however have some new Monster Beetle shells left in stock so I can make a Monster Beetle Profor anyone that is after one.

The suspension on the Monster Beetle Pro and the FG MT with the eight shocks is a little hard from the factory due to the thick shock oil they are shipped with. An excellent tip is to drain out the shock oil and replace it with a thinner FG shock oil and that makes the handling and steering improve dramatically.

The Kamitro 4wd Kit does not allow you to fit some FG options and accessories such as hydraulic brakes for instance as the belt runs down the middle above the tank and radio tray. It is designed around a stock out of the box FG and the FG options have not been taken into consideration. It is also not a sealed system with the belt fully exposed to dust and dirt. The FG 4wd kit is fully enclosed to the point that you can hardly tell its on there and is designed so as to still allow you to fit all the options and accessories just as if it were a 2wd. caad have you got any pics of the 4WD option? will it let you fit the 2 speed gear box...

While I'm at it, can a FG be bought with the 2 speed in it already? I hate upgarding any having stuff left over which isn't cost effective..

I'm looking to get a FG + 2 speed + Cable Discs up front and hopefulle 4WD...

The above pictures of the FG Baja has the new 4wd system installed on it. As you can see it is not even noticeable. If you look carefully, just behind the front bulkheads is that alloy piece that curves down towards the chassis plate, that is were the belt system runs through into the front and then there is a differential inside the front bulkheads with drive shafts leading out to the uprights.

Also if you notice, between the petrol tank and the radio tray you will see a black cover running down the chassis going underneath everything in the centre, that covers the belt and the belt runs underneath the tank and the motor to the rear differential.

Since it is centered and underneath everything you can still put onthe hydraulic brake master cylinders for example, which would get mounted on either side of the rear of the radio tray. With the Kamitro 4wd kit that is not possible due to the belt design running at the top.

Youwill still be able to fit a 2 speed gearbox with the FG 4wd kit as the transmission area is still the same as a 2wd. No FG comes with a 2 speed out of the box, however I can put together a package for you that will include what you want and you will not have any parts left over. The only thing you will not be able to get at the moment is the 4wd kit as it has not been released yet. PM meor email caad5@hotmail.com to further discuss your FG package.Edited by: caad5
