hey guys,

can anyone confirm for me the ratings of the SF-2 servo (stock steering servo on savage)?

i found someplace which says it's 90oz/in at 6V. that equates toslightly less than 7kg/cm at 6V. does that sound about right?

yeah stock HPI steer servo is only about 2x torque of a "standard" servo which is about 40oz/in.

I thought it was 80 but 90 could be right too.

Metal gears is an (expensive) optional extra.

Futaba makes an 80oz/in servo with identical specs, think its S3010 or S3009. The stock one is S3003... parts are interchangeable I think.

If thats the case of the SF-2 why does everyone keep on banging on about the Hitec HS-645 MG........which israted at 7.7kg/cm.

I know it's got a metal gear train which will last longer but the specs don't appear to give it that extra oooommmph?

I'm looking to upgrade my steering servo but I need to know it's going to make a difference.

There is this running at 9.4kg/cm and a lot cheaper too.....

Has anyone got the full specs for the SF-2?

Cheers.

hey JOD,

wheh you're looking at the ratings, you need to look at the voltage that it's specified for. they usually speficy them at 4.8Vand 6V.

if i'm correct, then the SF-2 is just shy of 7kg/cm at 6V.

but the HS-645 is rated 7.7kg/cm at 4.8V, or9.6kg/cm at 6V. that'sover 30% increase.
