A friend of mine has one of these and they are quite good for the money. Only suggestion would be to get extra batteries and avoid flying outside in anything more then a soft breeze unless you're good at climbing trees. Should be fun for the young fella.

got a v1.0 when they first came out and has been great fun, good for someone like me that didn't have the time to learn to fly a proper rc heli, at least at the moment. can get bit boring just standing there flying around, i get most enjoyment not watching it and flying it solely from the camera around and over trees etc. there's been a number of times i've had to find the thing based on what around matches with the image on the screen :( pretty strong too, hit many a tree flat out with little damage. v2.0 looks good, does flips. there's plenty of mods out there for them too.

v2.0 has the HD camera & redesigned body/bumper - should be noticeably obvious

afaik has only just started shipping so slow sellers might still have stock of originals

no think they all come in like 4 or 6 different colours plus you can add more customising stickers etc
You can also buy blank shells to paint whatever hue you like.

the 2.0 styrofoam is a bit more angular and its very obviously labelled "2.0" in big type... can't miss it ;)

forward/nose camera is what sources the live videofeed

there's also another camera pointing straight down, not sure if its usable to layperson.
Its purpose is like a optical/laser mouse sensor for positioning.

I haven't dug much into the various hacking efforts to see if anybody's made
any use of output from the bottom camera for alternative purpose,
i can't quite think what other use it might be good for either.

haha how much didja pay for yours used?

been waiting around to see how cheap they get but nothing's appeared yet,
mainly after 1 in good nick that's cheap enough that i dare hack it. :)
Seen some "damaged" ones cheap but repairing is like ~$70/corner.

You can toggle between cameras, not very good part from spying on the neightbours from the fence, range is f all , I had to bolt a good 300m when might took off n was heading for the highway, good thing is if it does run off you have the last image of where it lands so you just imprevise n find it
