Just broke a silicone tube on my VRC pro pipe. The problem is having no idea about where to buy it in correct size.

The inner diameter is 2cm. I went to supercheap but cant find this tube in correct size.

Where can I find it?

Moreover, I have found a new wing for 5b. It`s much stronger than HPI`s. The price of this wing is 14$. It can be found at Powerslideracing.

Here are some pics of this wing

Just ordered a CPI bigbore pipe.
http://www.largescalerc.com/images/products/detail/cpibbch.JPG
This pipe comes with a rear muffler. As a result, the noise level of this pipe will still under BLSO Noise Restriction.

The reason of getting this pipe is not only this pipe has great lowend and topend but also has awesome protection.

Compared with side pipe, CPI pipe is fully protected by car.

Here is a dyno test between CPI and VRC PRO side pipe.

VRC PRO is the pipe that on my 5B with 30.5cc ts engine.

http://www.oneillbrothers.com/dyno/dyno-295-lr-pipes-hp.jpg

http://www.oneillbrothers.com/dyno/dyno-295-lr-pipes.jpg
And a video shows how does cpi pipe perform on stock 26cc engine.

Hope this can help people who are looking for a good pipe with great performance and protection.

i got some tube from clark rubber for a dom v2, it's not silicone but does put up with high temps. just leave it in hot-boiling water 4 a few minutes & it easyer to stretch over the pipe. You could also try some radiator hose

Did you use coupon code? HBF is one of coupon codes. It gives you 5% discount when you shopping on DDM.
This CPI bigbore pipe cost me 230$ including postage. DDM doesn't have this pipe for sale. Therefore, I have to order this pipe from other seller.

VRC pro does not have lots of lowend. Even can be regarded as poor.
In my mind, your target should have good lowend. Therefore, you should try VRC BB or VRC for 5t. However, VRC pipe pipe is awesome for highspeed.

Ok. i want your pipe coop, are you selling it? If not what model is it?

It`s vrc pro. But I got 30.5CC TS engine. so lowend was quite enough for me. Moreover, I even adjust my clutch to 7000RPM. The engage point of stand clutch is 8000RPM.

sweet yeah i do, but im unable to pick them up, did you want to post them? if not dont worry. i think its the break-in process, the baffles may just have needed some oil/gas through them

just got back from doing some baja chasing, not too happy with the top-end but i am gonna get a vrc side something rather(coopers pipe) and ill get different gearing. 78kph with rear dom (clone) with silencer attachment, i took the silencer off but we didn't get to full pace considering we were using my wb holden and its acceleration is s***, then i ripped out dads sprint 2 flux with 2s lipo and 48pitch gearing and at three quater throttle i was doing 80kph. thats scary considering if i hit the smallest of rocks, the car is dead. i think its not far off 100

yesterday i installed the rear orange rpm arms and killer cables, it looks soo sick. the threshold umbrella seals didnt fit my shocks, anyone have 4 bottom shock caps spare and dont mind selling?

I never take my Baja to road. Therefore I can't give you a answer. But it does have pretty good lowend. I have gotten a set of onroad tire. I will test it when I come back.

Maybe we should come up with some ideas to attract more people to the track. The club needs people to keep it running.

Do we need to change the track around a bit? Change the jumps or put a few more in? Atm I think the track just needs a really good groom cause maybe its to rough.

Although I haven't been there in quite some time, if the track layout hasn't changed - prehaps something different might get some interest going for you guys. Add some more technical sections, camber the corners a little better, throw a low-level/high speed table top along a fast straight or a low speed/high-level ramp with a smooth transitional landing. Tight schicanes and prehaps a bridge to add some uniqueness.

It would be the first large scale astro track in Australia
Tyres last you for 6 months to a year
Car is always clean
Near zero track matenance
Zero watering
It's easy on the cars
Astro turf can normally cost nothing from tennis court resurfacing companies
Yes it's a bit of hard work to get it all down but there is a lot to gain from it
I think some conveyer belt run around the car tyres also can be sourced for free especially this time of year as sugar mills are closing down for matenance

Yeah a bridge like the Fehring track In Austria Would be cool I am sure we could weld one of them up

I think we need diversity. In the past ten months, we only have event on the Sunday morning. actually, we were doing the same thing. How about some new sections? I mean new way to play, different time. Sometimes we can hold a event that everyone can have fun together. just like BLSO fun day.

Maybe we need a pre-registration thread. Just like online check-in. As a result, we will know how many people will come before we get to track. Therefore, we are able to decide what kind of event we will have.

Moreover, I think we need a balance between beginner and pro. So does Elcon and BAJA. BAJA player knows Elcon is very hard to beat.

Guys what ever you do don't loose the passion and focus, trust me I have been there before and its part of the cycle of the hobby.
People come and go and it's like one minute you have a crowd and the next there's tubble weeds rolling around.
You have the track and some facilities as far as I know, you have a lot more length than we do so make the most of it and put a table top in and use the corners a bit more.
I know all of it costs money but if you can scrounge up a few hundred and get a decent bobcat operator it will refresh everything and get the excitement back quicker.

It's good to have lots of ideas but just knock one off at a time and you'll get there!

You do owe it to those that got it to where it is and has been!

having two tracks in brisbane you need to make the blso track significantley different than the qorls track to get members to flaot between the two
that was my resoning behind the astro turf

the points i made earlier was from information i got from chating with friends in europe and clubs in the UK that run this surface ( no i havent done it or raced on it before)

amb timing would be cool but its the best part of $3500+ from memory

another thing is stop haveing events on the same day as the qorls club!!!!

i am a member of both clubs blso and qorls
in a perfect world i would like to see a a timing loop fitted at BLSO
the track up dated and made over in a way that all blso club members are happy
and see some interclub racing between the qorls and blso clubs in 2012 and just take the timing equipment to blso when the round is run there
run some seriers 2 rounds at one club 2 rounds at the other both clubs benifit and all the drivers have a good time
even those clowns from NSW may come up for it :-)

hey its just a nother crazy idea that may benifit every one that will probabley get shot down by haters behind closed doors

Then astro turf the track..I think doing this will bring the spark back to 1/5 scale racing in general.

Guys
Thanks to all for the support, ideas, sugestions etc - I've certainaly opened up a can of worms on this issue.
I won't respond to each of you on a individual basis but suffice to say that as a club - BLSO will try to get things up & running ASAP. We will take on board as much of the ideas & suguestion as best we can.
The first cab off the rank I think will be to have a working bee to try & sort out some of the track condition issues. I agree that we should look at some modifications & building a table top. I'll also look into the astro turf. I am sure that you are all aware that funding is an issue. I will contact those who have made offers to help As soon as I can organise some equipment etc in the comming weeks.

Hey guys don't give up, as Deano said its only natural that the attendance fluctuates, people have so much more in their lives that just racing bajas.

When you look at our club in NSW a few things have contributed to keeping the members flowing, I don't know much about your club but here is a few things that may help.

1. Access to the public - we are unique and very lucky to have the model park around us where hundreds of people come to see the park on an open day, some like what they see and look into having a go at the hobby. A strict schedule would allow some advertising in local papers, hobby shops and community notice boards. If people don't know about the track they cannot come and see it.

2. Friendly atmosphere - this goes hand in hand with #1 as if people can see people laughing, joking, and generally enjoying themselves while racing/wrenching or just joining in where they can then it attracts them to ask more questions and see if they too can join in the fun.

3. An ability to get as serious or have as much fun as they want - this is where the timing system and a properly formed race championship comes in. For those that want to know stats and beat the clock or other racers they can get a lot out of it, for those that just want to compete and don't even want a transponder they can still have a go and have some fun. This also involves racing in different classes to give people a fair crack at success. We undertook a lot of fundraising to get our small track to where it is today, it also needs some generosity from members to get it to a point where it generates continued interest.

4. Leadership - you need someone to keep it all moving, Deano's passion and leadership skill shave kept us going in the right direction. People need to respect the leaders decisions however the leader needs to be someone who has the respect of others too.

The track does not really matter, as long as it can be raced on and not cause undue breakages to cars, if you have all of the above then you will always have good attendance. As attendance gets consistently good then you can look at track improvements - heck we have had the same track layout (which is quite short and small but its all the land we were given) for about 2 to 3 years now, it only has one jump - a table top which is not a car killer but it does have nice usable berms and good cambered corners. At times the surface is rough as guts and when it gets too bad it gets resurfaced.

Don't get too hung up on what you are racing on, work on who you are racing with.

PS If you are going to buy a timing system don't get anything else but an AMB compatible system.

Hey fella's, I am not a member of your club, I am still new to the large scale scene but I would like to offer an opinion (or opinions). The astro turf is a great idea but I think only for the high wear areas eg jumpfaces, landing areas and berms, that would leave the straights, corner entries and exits still dirt and lets face it, dirt is what it's all about. A complete track of astro turf is for indoor elec use.
I have had the pleasure of driving on your track and it is a great track, don't try and re-invent the wheel, just make a couple of small changes if you must. I think the thing, as Monaroman has said, get more puplic involvement get some open days going, family days, invite rc shops to come and check things out, even invite the football club memebers over to see that you are not all petrolhead boofheads and how much fun it is. Another point is don't try and go head to head with QORLS, make it so guys can drift back and forward between tracks on different weekends ( the nitro guys do this, they float between Meakin Park, BDR and Sunshine coast. They appear to be strong clubs). Also the lap timing system would be great because you would be able to track your time from race to race, week to week. And lastly, politics, nothing will kill a club, any club quicker than politics. At the end of the day we are trying to make it something to have fun at, get out in the dirt (and astro turf) and have a ball, if you can't have fun, why are you doing it.
Please take these opinions in the right way, they are just observations of what I've seen and heard.

Cheers
Tony

I spoke to another club this morning who has astro turf on the infeild etc and they have problems with it. They are a 1/8, 1/10 club with electric and nitro but they told me that it frays easily and with truggies the had a lot of it wind up in the drive lines. They say it suits the 4 wheel drive cars more as the grip in the corners is increased and another problem they have is holding it down. All that said it may be OK if it gets covered in sand?

Nice Matt.. I like 1st design. The fact that there is more slow corners is cool.

Need a big table top!!!! That's good on cars. Maybe use the dirt from a burm. (I think Burms are high maintenance as they rut up after1 race race day.which will only cost the club money.

I will do a 3d drawing once people have there say. Dawson and I can easily tackle the bridge. Just need some mesh??? Anyone?

Yeah I also like the first design, because the bridge is closer to the driver stand. Should make the last section of the track alot more technical which will make us all better drivers, which is good. Keep in mind that we will need to work our way around the hose outlet near that section.

What about a table top on the straight out of the second corner or on the start of the main straight?

I'm know you and dawson will do a great job on the bridge. What kind of design do the guys want? Arch like the Fehring track or something else?

Rota Mota
12-11-2011, 10:44 AM
I think the bridge needs to be 1 m off the ground in the middle and a nice gentle curve. It's not aimed at being a jump. Yeah like the fearing track but a little bigger in span. I'll do a drawing and post it over the weekend.

i would like to help build the bridge, i can get heaps of materials from my mate, whos a shop fitter. Like ply wood and other things. What materials do you want to make it out of?

Rota Mota
12-11-2011, 12:33 PM
No problems mate, It will be made from 100% steel. That's a long way off though. As the club has to give the go ahead first. Also where to put it needs to be agreed on etc etc.

i can get loads of aluminium, like for the actual road of the thing, i can do some drawings. but i will do them when marty gives the go ahead

I've seen on YouTube some bridges where the floor was made of wire mesh to help see the cars going under the bridge.

Secondly, I'd suggest building the bridge closer to the driver stand so there is reduced chance of getting stuck under the bridge where you can't see (or you exited the corner badly).

Timing equipment is very important guys. It makes life much easier for the race director and helps settle disputes should there be one. I've learned and suggested the use of Race Control Management Ultimate for QORLS and it works wonders. $700 is pricey but well worth the money.

Astro-turf is a good idea guys. Use it for track protection against rutts and pot-holes. Also use it for on-ramps and down-ramps of jumps to preserve the surface.

Hope it all works out!

Guys
I am trying to organise a working bee very soon so that we can sort out some of the track issues. I need to organise a bobcat etc & I am trying to do this ASAP.
I will be contacting those who offered to help with their sugestions & ideas so that we can followup particually with regards to the table top & the astro turf. I have also recieved a sugestion about seeking a grant for the Government & I will be folllwing that up as well. Not sure about the process yet but it is something that we can definately persue.
I am also going to be contacting the local paper to see if they are inerested in running a small peice in the sports section of the local papers
Cheers

We propose to start at say 3.00pm (gates open at 2.00pm) and run until it gets dark - say approx 6.00pm. Any later & I think that we will need to supply miners lamps torches.
Coulld those who are interested - pls register their intentions on this thread.
We will still be holding the workingf bee on the 11th Dec
If anyone needs to call me - 0424 134 904

Guys
Thanks to all those who made the effort to come out to the track yesterday - it was a lot of fun.
I think having a run later in the day was worth while - the weather was a lot cooler and the track stayed in better condition for longer.
On a more personal note - "Losi's 5T rule" - The new 5t is awsome - Basically straight out of the box with a few minor tweeks - it was perfect - it is unbeleivable how well it drives & tracks through the corners. No front end push like you can get get with 4wd - very smooth. It jumps well.
It was possibely a little under geared for our track - but that is an easy fix. I think that it it will get ever better once I can have a play with the setup - but as RTR - fantastic - Losi have certainly done their homework on this car.
