The boat bug has bitten hard.... Cheap hobby king to custom race cat, more expensive than baja....... Included is a couple of links from the seller with small motors on 4s and crap tx, i'll be using 4pk!!
I've upgraded speedy's and huge leopard 40 mm 4 poles on 6s:rockon: Just waiting on delivery.....
Hi matty, never thought i'd buy a boat but these things f'n fly and handle on rails... Heaps of fun and clean'n easy....Don't those mines fill up with water after heavy rain?????
just wait till the mines release their holding tanks, and run it there. coupla years ago, you could have run it over in rose point park, plenty of water there......not so good now though..
Ozpulse, this thing will eat a gasser...(85+ mph is conservative and it will rev to 35000 rpm...) run times are alot less but i have alot of packs and it will run cool.. Been down the fast zenoah 7hp road before...:thumb:
Anyway, parts are coming early for the beast and will be here next week so the build should be done after next weekend..
Got a question for you boaties.. and or tech heads, is there a better radio for range than my Futaba 4pk...? Can the aerial wire be extened on a 2.4 rx as the rx aerials are so short and incased in a water tight box with fibreglass and carbon fibre over that????????????????????
No! Don't lengthened the antenna, don't even contemplate it! Fibreglass is no problem, it's the carbon fibre that may be a problem. Do a range test on land while someone turns the boat around in all directions in there hands. If all is good, well, all is good. If not you may have to go FM, though I don't think you will have a problem. Some guys mount the RX to the underside of the radio box lid, and drill a hole for the antenna to go through. This raises the antenna above the radio box into the clear. I hope this helps.
You can also try searching "Futaba 4pk in carbon fibre RC boat hull" on Google.
Spektrum make a marine specific receiver. I would look into getting one of these. I tried to use my DX6 in my boat & it did not work to well. There was a lot of glitching due to the interferance from the water, the radio waves were getting refracted off the water & causing it to loose signal.
2.4ghz signal bounces off water. The spektrum one has 2 antennas n ya mount each one on each side of the boat. That way no matter wharf direction u head in you always have reception. 2.4ghz also won't penetrate carbon fine either.
I have seen on ebay a dude that makes extended antennas for the futaba rx's. Benckie had one in his boat with good results. I run the spektrum marine rx and only portion I had is after I killed it lol. They r water proof too which is a good thing in a boat lol.
I think if you are after pure distance then 75meg FM would be your friend. Should be able to get more than 1km range out of one of them and closer to 2km.
Never been a spectrum fan but i bought a dxs r pro with marine rx.. Looks ok and the yanks rave about them... Love the 4pk so this spekky better work. Got some codes from someone and got it mega cheap from amain.. $380.00 posted.. Not bad for a $399.00 radio with basic rx..?? Proof is in the pudding for me, vote is still out on spectrum......
If I remember back when I purchased the Harm Tiny. You told me not to call it a girl because it would cost me in the long run. Well you were right it has. Now your done it. You called her a big girl. Good luck with that. Looks the goods big fella.
Are they 550 size? That should pull an anker up! Keep up the good work. I'm tapping the keys very softly. VB is my enemy when it comes to post's this time of night.
I used to drink Tooheys new when I was a kid, now I'm all grown up so it's VB now.
Sorry tiny for hijacking the thread. I'll pull my head in now.
