47" mono build - from scratch
Hi all,
just geting a few things in order to start a new build.
some info first
Hull - 47" carbon fibre/ kevlar mono. weighs in at around 1.6kg (3.5 lbs)
Engine - either a Quickdraw 25ht or a RMCK RZ254 with J&G top end - both claimed to be around the 6.5hp mark.
The interesting part....
I'm going to go with twin counter rotating props behind a single engine so I'm going to build a dual drive gearbox. I had toy'd with the idea of " if I'm going to build a dual drive box , why not make it a 2 speed as well" but that might be something for the near future.
Back to the dual drive....
I'm seriously thinking of overdriving the box - some where around 0.7:1. In other words , pushing the props to 25000 rpm.
My reasoning behind this is my 32" nitro mono absolutely fly's pushing a 42mm X 1.65" prop to 35000 rpm.
Props... thinking of may be a starting point for this build may be somewhere around twin 57mm X 2.24" props ?
I'd love to hear your advice or suggestions - good / bad or otherwise.
Thanks in advance,
J.
