I have recently bought a new nitro truck and have no use for the old buggy. Its nearly at the end of its life. so i thought i would build a nitro jet boat but cant seem to find a cheap jet drive... so i thought i could buy a NQD jet boat and put in the radio, servos and engine from my old car.
It may work with a lot of modifictions. I built a boat using an Acadamy Titan hull & .25 out of a Savage. The hull started to break up after a while due to the stress of the engine in the plastic hull. Also you will be adding a far bit of weight to the boat so make sure you make it more boyant.
Good luck with your project & make sure you post pics.
Ok cool,
wouldn't a brushless system be worse for the boat? they have an extremely fast accelaration which would put more stress on the hull. wouldn't it?
Ill stick some foam in it in case it flips and doesn't fill up with water and almost sink like my old boat which ill use as a retriever if it stops.
No Not really. The b/l systems have smoother operation. Hold a b/l motor in your hand & see how much it vibrates & moves under acceleration, then do it with a nitro & see the difference.
Hi
If you want to build up a jet boat have a look at this very very long thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6523863/tm.htm
just about covers everything
Ive been looking into converting a 1.2M mono I have here into a jet boat but, my current gas boat project went way way over budget so its been put on the back burner
Cheers

thanks guys,
gonna buy the boat soon, it seams the cheapest & easiest option other than buying an expensive jet drive and a hull and stuff.
