OK, I know bugger all about boats but my friend knows even less about everything RC so asked me to have a look around for him. I didn't really want to do it but......... He is a keen fisherman with a boat but wants a toy for when the fish aren't biting.
Anyway he originally wanted a two-stroke petrol boat but after advising him of the negatives of engine rebuilds, constant smell of petrol, difficulty of working on and price he eventually settled on brushless providing that it goes quick. He would also like it to be a deep V-hull and also quicker the better.
His budget for the boat is around 500-600 dollar mark with another 200-300 for charger, lipos and radio. I can take care of the later three with no issues but have no idea on which boat to go for or where to start looking.
Could be worth looking at my Aquacraft Supervee 27 in the for sale section then; this is brushless, goes quick and although my price for an RTR is only $250 a decent radio and LiPos will hike the price up a bit. Let me know if you're interested...
The "Prince RCBT1111" from R2 is the boat to get. :thumb: Unfortunately it's not a deep V.
Now this is a boat!
If you can find a second hand one of these, as they don't sell them any more you would be hard pressed to find a better boat IMO.
There should be a few around because the original motor was a crap outrunner brushless that failed as soon as you pulled the trigger. No ABS plastic here, it's all hand laid GRP. They were only $240AU ARTR brand new about a year ago so you should be able to get one cheap. There are tons of threads in other forums about this boat, it's the bomb! I think suzukiboy had one. The hardware is just awsome.
Here's a video! 25" mono, modified with Ammo 2300kv motor, 4s Lipo, X637 prop
Still in the testing stage but she gets along pretty well with the stock prop and direct drive off the Picco.
Working on a water cooled head and a clutch at the moment cause the direct drive doesn't allow you to idle in the water.
Hi BB, if you want something a little bit daring, I know of a 2 stroke(24cc?) boat sitting around collecting dust.
It is BNIB, comes with a big shiny pipe(well that secured everyones knowlege how little I know about boats) and is RTR.
Will do Bug but it will be a little while yet. He will have it soon but I have to measure the battery compartments and see what will fit. Then I will make an order from HK for batts and charger. Once that arrives the testing will begin.
The tool is already talking about power upgrades. Running it first might be a good idea.
It goes on a bit but there is some good info on what motors work for upgrades.
