i have heard of people using chainsaw motors in boats but most people use whipper snipper motors, home lite i think. i am going too try this soon as funds (wife) allows.
by the time the old girl is done hopefully i'll have one of those jr digital fm to run in all my cars and boats it's gust a killer to get that stuff 150 a resevor but the one radio for all my rc sh*t.
You need to make sure you have a resistor spark plug in your engine to prevent radio interference. The plugs will normally have "R" in the model number.
When I built a whipper snipper boat I just went to my local AutoPro shop with the stock spark plug and they found a matching resistor plug for it.
Non resistor plug = crashed model due to radio interference
The use of different types of leads "allthou short on a chainy moter" can have a huge effect on electricial noise type interferance as well, also ive found that using a resistor plug in an ignition system that isnt desinged for it may lead to your coil failing as it is meant to work with the resistance of the recomended plug, resistor type boots can add to this aswell
