Has anyone on this forum got one and if so what modifications or what batteries are you running it with?
If so post up some pictures of it and video if any.
I was thinking of getting one as my brother has got a boat and though it would be some real good fun. I was going to run something like 2x 4200mah Intellects with a Graupner CF45 prop, what you think?
My only concern with this boat is that i think that i will be in the water more then the boat because they dont seam to be the steadiest going around, or is that from bad tuning, from the fins and stabilizers.
Hi, I just sorted one of these out for a mate, I race gas class at penrith and have learnt balance is an art, what we did was break out the timber battery holders and lay a velcro strip from the back of the motor to about the front of the cowl hole, I have tested the boat with 5000 venoms in it and if you measure the battery and mark it at 1/2 way and then mark 10mm either side that would be a good starting point, set the middle mark lined up with the front motor mount bolt for good water (small ripple) then move teh battery forward to the next line (which will drop the nose)for rough water but dont run it in big water cause there aint enough weight in the boat. Move the battery back to the front mark for glass like conditions, it will hop a small amount but it can be driven easily and really fly's. use the motor mount bolt at the front of the motor to set the reference for the batteries, we have not even changed the trim tab position at all, we are running the stock prop on that boat but a mate who races one has a brass prop on it with the same set up system and it really moves, sorry I dont know what the number is, if you want to see these things really go throw a lipo in it!!! holly hell they are quick then.
Had one of these now for about two months and have just bought another for my son. I replaced the waterjacket with a better 540 one to keep it cool as I run dual 14.8v 2500 lipo cells in it. With the AQUB9720 in it it certainly flys. I packed it with a bit more foam to keep it afloat better on the couple of times that I have flipped it and also installed a second turn fin on the starboard side for left hand turn which has certainly helped. Don't know why this didn't come standard. Certainly a great fun boat.
Have to agree with clubwak when it comes down to performance the balance is a critical factor almost as much as what you put in it to power along, extra foam is also a really good idea if you want to keep your boat and dont want to re-enact the titanic sinking scene.Lippo batterys are the best I have heard for power performance they really scream along. If you are worried about getting wet occasionally you could get a cheap retrieval boat from Ebay for about 50 bucks wont go fast but gets them back in one piece for ya just make up a jig from some pvc tube and attach it to the bow of the cheapy.
Everything in the boat was stock except I changed the serial wiring in the battery harness to parallel. The stock SV ESC can only handle 18 volts. That would mean in series the dual 14 volt batteries would make 24 volts and would certainly shorten the like of the ESC.
I'll organise some for you and try and get some video this weekend weather permitting. I have a pair of 14 volt 4000 which run fine with the only complaint I have being their size and weight. I prefer 2200 or 2500's, lighter and, as a result, quicker. When you organise the battery harness into parallel this holds the voltage at 14 volts but adds together the Mah of the batteries making 2 x 2500's run as a 5000. If the harness is in series this adds the voltage together making the 2 14 volt batteries appear as a 28 volt battery but the Mah remains the same (ie 2500).
I found with my sons when the harness was in series this sucked the life out of one of the Lipos usually blowing it while the parallel tends to be better for Lipos.
I have had to photograph my son's boat as he crashed his the other day and blew the motor apart. Never seen that before. Anyways my motor and esc ended up in his boat while I replaced mine with a Feigo and 100amp esc. Mine is still wired the same but as you are looking at doing this to yours I thought stock SV hardware would be better.
I will try and organse some video this weekend but at least the photos give an indication how to wire up the harness. Let me know if there is anything else you wanted to see.
No less.......... missing ESC and servo, was cheap, brand new but the two items missing, I have a whole SuperVee driveline setup and carbon fiber turn fins.
Did come with the Grim 3 blade prop but.
That's cool. The stock motor is good but I have changed it over and have run mine with 22 volts. Damn thing flys now, chine walking all over the lake. Have to tune the tim tabs down to get it sitting in the water I'm running a grim 3 blade prop. I don't mind them. Bites well in the water on take off and coming out of corners. Where you located?
On public land, I don't know the street name, will find out.
