Filthys Baja SS.

Yes folks I'm now a happy Baja camper.

It was converted into a 5T with the body and wheels. I'm converting back to its original SS state as a buggy.

Fired it up today and tuned it a little for the run in. Had to replace the boost bottle spacer between the carby and engine cause it had a crack in it. Took the boost bottles off and went back to stock spacer.

Very happy with this vehicle. I'm new to gas RC so I'll have a ton of questions.

I've taken the Proline 5T truck body and conversion kit off. I've got to get a Buggy body and the smaller front rims and tyres. Hopefully to match the proline ones on there.

Also have to take off the side pipe and buy a rear one.

If you got any questions for me or advice I'd love to hear it, as I said I'm brand new to this 1/5 gas cars. I've only ever had a 1/10 electric.

Yes the budget was completely nuked. But worth it in my opinion.

Just need to get some bits to go buggy style.

Yes it is brand new. Only built and not even run in yet. I believe I was lucky to get this one.

Doesn't have the pico switch. I only have a 2ch radio.
I want to get a 3ch one to setup a kill switch.

Need some info on that sort of stuff. Electrics are my weak point.

filthy if i were you i probably would not run the car till you get a 2.4ghz and a pico .... at least you know you won,t get any interference or if it takes of on you you can at least kill the engine before any damage occurs

Yeah I got a Spektrum 2ch 2.ghz radio with it but I want a 3ch to make use of the pico.
I can't afford for this weapon to go top speed into a tree let alone a child or car.
Cheers
Pete

That thing is spotless, I would run it without the pico as long as the throttle servo is in good nick, and just be careful where you use it. As Shaun mentioned we all used to run without pico's not so long ago, you do learn from a runaway and tend to baulk at running without one. Just be careful and make sure if it gets away a fence will stop it before it can do harm to someone or someone's property.

Put some cash away for the 3ch and make it the first upgrade you do.

Nice rig though mate

Had to the block between the carby and engine was cracked.

Now I've got to set the steering servo cause I've checked everything else and turns left much better than it turns right.

Manual says the servo arm needs to be 10 degrees to the right looking front on. I can't tell exactly without measuring it but I reckon its maybe a little more. Its the stock HPI SFL-10 servo.
I've got the throttle servo at 116% travel to get the throttle at WOT. Its a Spektrum servo a Z590.
The brakes work but I can still push the Baja and the wheels turn. Are the brakes supposed to fully lock the wheels that if I was to push it the wheels would drag along the ground? I'm running Yamadude cable linkage. Thats with the brake part of the servo set to 125%.

Lookin sweet...looks like you have some new gear to sell of then eh !!
Bodyshell and side pipe would be a nice pickup for someone and save a pretty penny...
Rear dominator would be well protected by the look of it !!

Thanks Ellenbrook.
I've already ordered some parts for buggy conversion.
Front Desperado rims in chrome with bow tie tyres.

Got to get a rear pipe, probably going clone to save some money plus I've heard they are thinner than dominators so I can bend it to not hit the frame.

Only thing I need now is a rear wing.

Gave it a 30 second run after getting the throttle to open fully. She is covered in grass clippings now. She is no longer a virgin. But now she is in pieces as I rebuild her and check everything.

Exhaust is off now and the electric compartment. Need to get a decent throttle servo now and 3ch 2.4ghz setup. Decided on the Futaba 3PM. Just have to find one at a good price.

I love just tinkering.
