Glow Plugs last a tank

I recently had to buy a new plug for HPI RS4 EVO 3, and decided to buy two O.S medium type 8 from Hobby Place in the city unfortunately.
My problem is that after just one run the glow plug would no longer start the car, I would test the plug and it shows to be damaged, not broken.
So I put in the second one, and low and behold, it damaged that one after a tank too. And Yes, I always use the supplied copper shim.
I am new to RC, however having bought a second hand RS4, I'm starting to see why saving money early, costs you more later.

So I kind of assumed it was my engine, blowing the plugs, but could it be terrible plugs? or could it be my start technique? Will Hobby Place replace them after just 1 day?

I started to dissect the engine only to shred one of the heads at this stage

I got stuck and had to try and clean the engine as best I could without being able to remove the heat sink or the starter plate. I had the right screwdrivers, which were bought brand new for the job, and I had let me engine cool a lot. But they just ripped through everything, I was lucky to get off, any screws.
I guess the real question is, am I up for a new engine?, or are there techniques for removing the stuffed screws?

Lots of questions here, so if anyone could be bothered, that would be absolutely fabulous.

the shop wont replace the glow plugs...as its up to the user to determine the correct glow plug they need and if the motor is in a serviceable condition to use them etc

if two plugs have gone the same way, id have to say its the motor...either a stretched con rod or worn rear bearing , could also be an incorrect tune.

my advice is to take it into the hobby shop, and ask them to help you

A hobby shop will keep my car for over two weeks, and probably get to the worn screw, and just tell me I need a new engine. Waste of time IMO
I think I may find a high quality drill bit and just dill out the screw, but we'll see.

And did you replace the conrod, or just get a new motor?

sometimes it's cheaper getting a new motor,another thing t could be,like tom said the rear bearings

Stretched rod, running too lean on the LSN or HSN will do this also. Try richening the needles before doing anything too drastic.

The first time I ran my Raptor 50 (I know not a car but same deal with the engine) it was way too lean and I went through about four glow plugs (2 were A5's :O) before realizing that I had to richen up. since then no issues whatsoever, she blows good smoke and I haven't had to replace the glow plug since.

Best method I have found for removing stripped out head bolts, grab a Torx Bit and wedge it into the stripped bolt head, apply a little heat with a heat gun or hairdryer and then turn the headbolt out.

For your glo plug issue, you could have one of a number of problems, stretched conrod, engine bearing, leaking seal on the carb, or it could just be your tuned to lean, how many litres of fuel has the engine run through it? if it is well worn, you be better off with a new engine
