Nomadio CS
hey guys,
just thought i'd let you guys know of the problems i'm having with my react, and the customer service of Nomadio.
So the react has worked flawlessly for about 2 months, with issues about the battery but i can live with that, however the other day i went to turn it on after rebuilding my baja and no power. Replaced the battery pack, still no power, charged the battery pack and it charged up, still no power.
Plugged it into the computer via the USB port, still no power. So i shot off an email to nomadio customer service to see if they could have a look at it for me and repair/replace it.
The replies i received back from them were that i overcharged the radio, and was putting batteries with too much voltage in the radio, which was complete crap as i have a swallow 2 charger which i haven't had this problem with anything before, and the voltage on it is autosensing (isn't it?) and so it wasn't the charger, and as for the battery i was using the battery that i got with the radio.
So i sent them off another email explaining this (3 times as it took a week to get a response) and got another one back saying that they weren't going to even look at it and pretty much that if it's out of warranty, bad luck.
I've had similair problems with Spektrum before, and even though the radio was out of warranty they still fixed it, and even Xbox customer service was the same.
Needless to say i certainly will not be buying Nomadio ever again, and the React is destined for the bin.
Just thought i'd let you guys know of my experiences with nomadio Customer service.

Thanks for sharing. I hope they read this because they lost a customer now. No one should put up with bad service.
Glad I read this before buying.

I've watched all the Nomadio posts here and on other forums with interest because I own one and moreso because I know I'll probably be on my own if anything goes wrong.
Here's a couple of things I've noticed.
Basically you should never do three things with these radios.
1.. never reverse battery polarity or put too much voltage into the radio via the battery connector or the charge jack.
2.. Never charge them through the charge jack so that No. 1 can never happen.
3. Never expect Nomadio to standy by anything except the disclaimers in their destruction manual.
It's a shame. Very good product but very poor attitude from the manufacturer. They are quite obviously in denial. They think their electronics manufacturing and design is so sh$t hot that the only problems customers can experience will be their own doing.
To that I say, so what! Nomadio needs to take responsibility of their product. If people reverse polarity or put too much voltage through them then it's because their sh#t hot engineers didn't do their job and design failsafes against user error.
For such a smart company that had the ability a few years ago to produce a radio which was years ahead of the competion they really have acted like fools.

amen to that mate.
number 2 was my error, but that's only because they use a stupid plug that i didn't have a jack for. and yes you'd think that with the ability to demolish the field, as really the react is an awesome radio, apart from their laziness and terrible customer service.
anyone want a React Receiver? that's about all that's salvageable lol.
cheers

Number two is the killer because there's two plug standards on a multi-charge lead that fit the same nomadio socket but the polarities are reversed. (JR and Futaba) . If your charger has no alarm or cutoff for reverse polarity it will fry your radio.
PM me a price on the receiver. I probably should keep a spare.

Might want to change your sig then
The best radio I've ever used is the KO EX10 Helios with the KO Module. I couldn't believe the thing when I started using it... Amazing! Heaps of people find them too complicated and most of the features useless... If you know how to use them though they're excellent
Response time is just crazy! Good support on them here in Aus too with HEI as the distributor
Cheers

The Helios will probably be slightly more expensive than the 3PM. The price you see (around $300AU I think) is for the TX only, then you need a module with receiver.
Let me know if you decide to get one.
Cheers

This one comes with a module doesn't it mate?
i've asked the parents for a budget on how much they want to spend so once i get that i'll have a more serious look.
whats the airtronics M11 like?

Yeah that's the one. That's the same module/receiver I have too. I didn't realise they had the package like that.
That's great value, can't go wrong.
The M11 is an excellent radio however it's a bit too big and chunky for me... Unless you run LiPo's it's really heavy too which can get annoying. The Helios weighs nothing even with AA batts and looks a whole lot better
Cheers

Sanwa M11 best radio I've ever owned. Recommended to everyone!
As Anfo said, they're a lil on the heavy side, but they are the best!
There's a new M11X out there now, I believe it's made or designed by LRP in someway .. pieces of art.
The Futaba 4PK is also an excellent choice.

yeah was looking at the m11x, but at almost the price of the 4PK, unless i get the ok from the parents to spend that much it will be too high, i'll ask though as the 4PK would look really nice in my hands or an m11x with lipo battery and a few bits.
cheers

4PK is defiantly my radio of choice.
Bought the Helio's EX10 off MarkG after he didn't like it, and you know what - I hated it too. Piece of crap The module on the side of the radio is just ridiculous.
I bought a Futaba 4PK and it is a very good radio, built buy the best in the 2.4ghz business
