Guys i am getting there, thanks for being patient, i have now decided that a truggy is what i am looking for, i have looked at a few the hyper habao pro seems good but as a complete unit its $950 at hobby habit, i was wondering if anyone knows of another brand that is as good but is cheaper, i do want to race now and then for fun and was told about Robotronic BR50 any advice will go a long way

For $980 at The RC Pit in Sydney you can get the RC8T RTR... Much better/newer Truggy...

The BR50 is a short course truck, not a truggy. Other than that...don't get it.

If you want a short course truck, i recommend the SC8.

If you want a truggy, i recommend the RC8T.

If you have specific RC8T questions, post in the RC8T Megathread.

if you still want to build a kit then i recommend the Mugen MBX-6T
The Losi 8T 2.0 is another good option but it comes as a race roller.

Both are Excellent Truggies

again you can speak to Darren at RCHobbyzone 82777015 as he can also set you up with a MBX-6T or the 8T 2.0 plus engine/pipe combo and electrics.

if your not in a rush to get into RC i recommend holding off until the SA State titles on Nov 13/14/15 and have a look at all the different truggies in person and see how they perform.

The 2 most popular truggies at the moment that are winning most of the Australian events are the Mugen MBX-6T and the Losi 8T 2.0

**edit** you will get alot of recommendations about this truggy is better than that etc...

the 2 most important criteria if you are going to be racing are:

1. what are the popular Truggies at your local track. (helps with setup advise and parts in an emergency)
2. Parts support from your LHS (yes alot of parts are available online cheaper than most LHS, but on a race day trackside Parts support can mean the difference between going home early or keep racing)

RCHobbyzone are a major sponsor of SDMCC and are at 99% of the race meets with trackside spare parts for the vehicles they carry and their team drivers race. (Mugen MBX-6(T) and Losi 8(T) 2.0)

One thing i have noticed and we have had good comments from interstate drivers is how good the comradery is at SDMCC.
Most the drivers are willing to help out their fellow racers whether it be setup / tuning advise to spare parts in an emergency. (obviously you are expected to replace the part you borrowed :-) )

What is your budget?

If you are serious about racing and want a car that can be anywhere near competitive it will cost you at the very least around $1200 to setup and then there are the ongoing expenses.

Seriously i would budget around $2000 if you want to race a season.

Has anyone had much to do with Ansmann or Gs, i have also found out that apart from Carson which is german, most makes are actually all produced out of china and badged for the specific companies and that these two are also similar to other better known brands but with out the price tag for instance try looking up a GS XUT PRO, any feedback is positive and again thanks guys

GS XUT PRO = Not bad for the price, but absolutely crap parts support from the Australian distributors. If you can find a very good supply of parts and backup for it, then it might be ok. Won't last you very long though.

Ansmann Terrier = Junk, end of story.

Have a look at the the Thunder Tiger ST-1 RTR, one of the best rtr truggies on the market. Tough as nails, easy to look after, race capable with Factory Pro option parts available, easy on the wallet and parts support in Australia is excellent.

Here is a link to the Losi 8T 2.0 RTR Truggy its not a kit though but is a very good and competitive truggy at a really good price. Just need batteries and fuel and your racing.

what else do i need to use this Hot bodies truggy and at what cost or is this $599 price for everything i need to fire it up and race, also i have come to the conclusion that a RTR is probably the way to go, i like the losi 8t 2, but at a grand plus its out of the price range, alos guys i would like to thank you all for your advice its great to see that when it counts the world of RC still come together to help newbies out.

I know the Spektrum Radio has a built in failsafe, but I still like having the seperate failsafe attached

Guys it looks like i need to seriously look at the Losi 8T 2.0, but one question, is there a particular model as i have seen two kits one is RTR and the other is a kit, but its 500 plus motor and elecs and what ever else i need, or do i go RTR and is there additions i need to do or will i be competitive out of the box, i would really like to get out of this running and ready to race for under the $1000.00, but this looks like a pipe dream, i have decided to go to the titles here at Morphett vale run by the SDMCC to see what everyone runs and what they have to say before i buy.

The Losi RTR would be the best way to go if you can afford it, either that or pickup some 2nd hand gear
