as i said, if you cant fly then buying an aerobatic biplane as a first is asking for troubles... but hey its ya'll's money (and foam) that'll be scattered around the park

let me know once you trash em, ill buy the cockpit canopy off you if it survives being lawn darted hehe
you better watch out plugging a non forum sponsor around these parts steve LOL
model flight in adelaide has the "Christen Eagle II" version for 90 bucks aus i seen today, sold by graupner.
exact same "art tech" plane, but the CE has a different colour scheme and motor. in real life i think it was actually an upgraded pitts
i am glad ya'll like my Sttip special though! its even got a bit of that japanese drift car backwards writing thing going on with one side of the vert stab

well it would have been friday, or saturday.. .except this mechanic pulled my cars front end apart in the drive to do a heap of bushings and said he'd be back saturday to finish it.
but then abandoned the job till monday as he had to take away some parts to press fit the ball joints.
i was going to walk 10min to the park (im fat n lazy, so im slow walkin
) with it but the tree's are swinging and swaying so it'll prob have to wait till late monday he finishes the job and the winds are calmer.

friggin 4 day weekend due to 2x RDO's from work, and im stuck at home.

For the 1/10 cars.
Nice vid and music BTW, I really do like that plane and I tell you what I am so close to getting one.

thanks steve + allanach, glad you enjoyed it even if the quality was a bit sub par due to low light.
allanach, im not too sure about the lipo monitor quality you linked.
2s monitor, but warning at 3v per cell seems incredibly low to me?
generally with plane lipo's we go by the "80% rule".
after your pack gets to about 3.75v per cell it starts "voltage dump" to supply the last 20% of power remaining, and thats what generally screws lipo's early or possibly even causes them to puff
eg:
3cell lipo, 12.6v charged.
11.5v is about the max we drain them to (roughly 80% of pack capacity) coz the last 20% is achieved by volt dump.
running them down to 9.9v (3.3 per cell) is incredibly bad for em, yet @3v per cell if it was a 3cell lipo cutoff it'd be warning you at 9v. WAAY below what will give your batt a strong and healthy life.
there is one on there for about 6bucks and it is fully adjustable as to when it kicks in.
eg: you might like 11.1, i might like 11.5, but its easily adjustable for whatever your choice is.
im pretty sure it come in 2s version aswell.i like AEROPLANE jelly.

Bugger about th Lipo gadget...... I didn't know of any other units available as this is not my bag.
I will have to do some research now cause you got me thinking about the 3V thingy.
Thanks for the heads up.

no probs mate, its a common (and quick) death to a lipo to run them that low then you see people saying "oh those lipo's are ****, i got a lipo monitor and it still crapped itself" etc.
ill see if i can dig up that other one i found.
it was in some stupid section of their website, like under video recording or some totally irrelevant section (if memory serves)

here we go, under chargers

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...o_(New_Version)
BM 2- 6 cell ,adjustable warning.
----------------
the following is copied from Chuck (aka noflyzone's) blog
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/membe...=106813&page=2
"Resting" Voltage per cell (that is, a pack that has just been worked and then allowed to "rest" for 5-10min after usage to cool off and recover a little voltage)
4.20v = 100% of our battery's amp capacity remains.
4.03v = 76% of our battery's amp capacity remains.
3.86v = 52% of our battery's amp capacity remains. (A good voltage to store our Li-Pos at)
3.83v = 42% of our battery's amp capacity remains.
3.79v = 30% of our battery's capacity remains.
3.75v = 20% of our battery's amp capacity remains. (Where we want to take our Li-Pos to for long life)
3.70v = 11% of our battery's amp capacity remains. (Detrimental 'battery voltage dump' begins)
3.6?v = 0%
In line with the above, we do NOT want our Li-Po's resting voltage to be less than 3.75v per cell, which would mean we had used about 80% of their capacityi like AEROPLANE jelly.

I thought lipo's were good to about 3v? Although not recomended.
2.8v was basically the point where the lipo is stuffed or on its way to stuffed.
In my desert truck, I run the lvc at 3.2v.
I assume it's all the same for both air and surface, same chemistry etc...
The pitts looks nice too by the way.
When I can afford it, I will be looking at getting a mulitplex easy star, been wanting to get a plane for a while.Losi Desert Truck | Colt 1/10 EP 4wd on-road

That makes for interesting reading Bliv.
A lot of guys have some positive feedback for that contraption I purchased and I don't understand.
I might send Hoby city an email and question this device as both batteries and said device is purchased from them.
Lets see what they come back with.

you know, i did notice the same thing on both the 2s and 3s version of the basic one you listed originally. seemed to be positive reviews.
ppl seem to love them, but the problem is hobby city give points for writing reviews, and the points are redeemable for discount. (cash for comments, haha)
so all reviews on their site must be taken with a grain of salt.i like AEROPLANE jelly.
