Mate how do you find it flies compared to a larger scale nitro model with a bit more weight behind it?

i only ordered on sat night so it hasnt left the warehouse yet

i dont have any nitro planes, or balsa planes so i cant comment fairly on the difference between nitro v elec or balsa v foam

i just love the foam elecy's coz they are cheap to buy, extremely cheap on parts, just plug n play at my local footy field, etc.
if i lawn dart a plane it can usually be repaired with some glue. if it cant be repaired its only like $30 for a new wing or about $40 for a new fuselage.

i can fly any of mine in winds up to about 25kph, up around 20kph its getting a bit strong to be fully enjoyed though.
by that time the branches in big gummie's are getting moved around quite a bit. if the leaves or small branches are moving i fly.
if the big branches are swaying, they stay in the hangar.

Nice work on the plane Bliv.... make sure you put up some pic's on the build (if any) and a vid when you take her out.

    Nice.

    sure no prob. good idea.

its only attaching the wing and adding my own Rx, but ill do an out of the box review when she gets here.

i plan to remove the stickers and paint it up like Chris Sperou's "super stinker".

some pics of the Pitts Special.

she's a pretty little gal, thats for sure.

nice quality plane for the price.
    20a speedy
    decent brushless outrunner
    Quad ailerons (2 per wing)
    Cockpit is nicely decal'd
    Wheel pants

about the only flaw is the plastic tailwheel which i'll replace with an old foam supercub tail wheel
and the Pitts sticker on the right side of the tail is actually backwards but the one on the left side of the tail is correct

it has 2 batt box's in the belly. one is up front for a 1500 lipo to stand upright in.
the other is just behind the landing gear, and is for the old nimh packs to lay flat.

she really does look like a super model (pun intended )

Bliv, that thing looks sweet, you got something you can put next to it so we can get visual on it's size.

So by the looks of it the vertical and horizontal stab was already assembled

If so apart from checking the CG and shoving a battery in her and assembeling the main wings what else did you have to do to get her airborne?

    Well done

    Nice going Bliv

If you don't mind me asking......how much for the kit and what else do you need to get it going apart from Rx and Tx?

We have a big empty park here too

it came virtually assembled, yes the tail is permanently fixed/preassembled.

fit Rx + velcro it in the fuse.
velcro to ESC to mount it (i put mine in the old nimh centre batt holder for added cooling)

2 plastic screws up into the bottom of the bottom wing
2 plastic screws down into the top of the top wing
strutt's come pre-mounted to the lower wing. just slide it into the upper wings strutt mount and put a thumb screw in there.
give your thumbs a week R+R to recover from the thumb screws before you regain enough feeling to twiddle the sticks and maiden her.
    <--- smiley with swollen thumb

slide in pre-assembled landing gear which has double sided tape to hold the Lg cover to the fuse
connect wire linkage from bottom ailerons to top ailerons

    $79usd plane
$57usd EMS freight (ordered sunday night, shipped from hong kong tues, it arrived in melb early thurs morning (2am) then arrived adelaide early friday + delivered @lunch )

    total was $150.45au delivered.

    i added an AR6100 Rx

and had to buy this 1500 lipo.

batt box is limited in size as to what can fit. 1500's nice, i hear some 1800's are possible but it is only a little gal (about 85% size of my corsair or super cub, slightly larger than my ultrafly Hawk jet)

2200 is too long and the batt door wont close.

comparison pics to come in 15mins. going to do that now for ya's

The plane is made by "Art Tech" but is packaged as what the winery's call a "clean skin" (no brandings)
although if you look in the cockpit @ the instrument panel, and also on the batt door, you will see Art Tech written there.

Thanks for sharing the info Bliv. I've been thinking of buying a plane but want something cheap and easy to maintain. This could be the one for a noobie.

Might have to chat to Mrs Claus soon.....lol

oh, i also had to chop off some other shiet connector from the supplied hobbyking 20a brushless ESC and solder my own deans on it.

she comes with a 10x4.7 slow fly prop + 1 spare, but can take up to an 11" slow fly for improved performance.

Centre batt tray used for esc rx.
wires go back through to front batt box

lower wing mount screws, double sided tape on landing gear covers

thumb screws in upper wing strutt

    screws through top of wing

    comparison with Parkzone F4U Corsair.

its a little bit shorter on length and wing span.

approx 900mm wing span Vs i think 11 or 1200 on the corsair?
the pitt's ends at the bend point in the corsairs rudder (half of a rudder length shorter)

well obviously its your money but aerobatic biplanes have a symetrical wing and dont "float" well, they need to be flown under power right down to touch down

small Lg with wheel pants wont like rough "newby" grass landings. (or what i call a drop n plop landing technique)

personally, i'd still suggest a plane like the hobbyzone Supercub LP (lipo power version)
you can also get a float set for the super cub and make it like a seaplane

but i'd buy it as parts which will cost you about 120 for the plane, then stick in a 20buck turnigy motor, $20 speedy, $15 zippy 2200, and a bunch of HXT900 servo's.
id also fit ailerons from the get-go and use an el cheapo 4ch non-digital radio to get you started.

it might not look like a hot rod but its extremely forgiving to fly and land, and once you can take off, fly a whole pack and land something like that without a crash then you'll be ready.

it also takes a licking and will keep on ticking.

of course if you've been flying other planes (allanach's) then you may already have the skills to fly something a little better.

with some very cheap mods you can get the super cub up to around 80mph with very little effort.
take a look at this "corsair killer" and how aerobatic it can be if setup right.

this is my mate Dale's supercub.. he lives in Atlanta, Georgia

hobbyzone supercub LP @ model flight "teach yourself to fly"

    http://www.modelflight.com.au/hobbyz...per_cub_lp.htm

could probably get it from rchobbies too if its more convenient.

start out as a noob friendly trainer, modify it into a hot rod for little effort and money.

if you get your thumbs crossed up you just let go of the sticks and it'll level and straighten itself out.

    its almost noob-proof
