After run procedures

Just want to get a consensus on how often to use after run oil in Traxxas 3.3 engine.

Do I need to remove the glow plug or can I just use the carby air hole when using after run oil?


I tipped some AR oil in the carby air hole spun the electric start for 10 seconds. When I removed the glow plug it was filled with AR oil too so the oil must be getting around the motor ok.

The procedure you are using is fine, do it at the end of each day of running after you have drained all the fuel and run the engine dry.

So the AR oil down the carby air hole is fine and dont worry about removing the glow plug each time?

Depends how much you're putting down. If you turn the motor over the oil has to reach the piston and sleeve... It's just the way it works. Just like fuel dropping in through the needles/carby and making its way up to the piston/sleeve.

I go pretty heavy with my ARO. I usually out 4-5 drops down the carb and 3-4 down the glow plug hole. Every so often I pull the back cover off to have a looksy inside and I would put a drop on the crank pin/conrod bushing as well. It makes for a little smoke show on start up but I like to go a little overboard for the sake of engine longevity.

Also I am not a fan of putting in ARO while the glow plug is still in. Like you noticed rcpilot the ARO gets on the plug. This could cause it to foul up when you try to start or at least it might make starting a bit more difficult. My opinion is do it with the glow plug out. Its a pain to remove the glow plug wire for the EZ start but if you get some thin and long needle nose pliers it should make the job easier.

I just use Mobil 1 synthetic, or any synthetic oil in mine, 1 drop in the carby, spin the motor round a couple of times and thats it, I've had my os .21 vz-b in storage for over a year and No problems firing it back up
