I think you've chosen well
I would have suggested TP G4 cells or Hyperion G3 VX
Can you please update when you have them & give some feedback, I'd like to know how the Losi combo lasts also

Everything seemed to be working well for a while
So far i have used it about 6 times. Never really giving it too much stick, keeping the temps to about 100F. Only using it for about 10-15mins each time as to break in the battery
But today i had to change the motor leads to some longer ones as i needed to put on the heat sink and the 1st set where in the way and too short, and now its doing weird things again...
Like before, dump the throttle and it just twitchs... pulled the motor out and still the same thing, changed around the wires, updated firmware on ESC and still nothing.
Dont understand how it could have changed??
Seriously over the Losi Combo already....

well im almost positive the Losi ESC is Dead.

Anyone know any ways i can test it to be 100% sure its dead.

I suspect you've answered your own question...bugger! Sorry for your loss but it does confirm all the anti Losi electrics advice I've heard

now just need to decide its replacement...
MMM or the Tekin RX8

Could be the motor. Can you try another motor? My cousin's lsi motor pooped itseld like that. Over heated and then it didn't run except for some cogging noises.. Others have dropped magnets off the rotor too which will also cause it to lock up.

i've tried the ESC with another motor, was only a 540 motor (unsensored) and it still did the same thing. Although unlike the losi 670 motor it did eventually spin up. But even then it looked like it was struggling.
I think something is gone in the ESC and its not getting power to the motor.

I would look at replacing it with either the Ezi-run combo (2650kv/80amp)(2000kv/150amp) or the MMM (2200kv), you can ussually pick up the MMM parted out from a Savage Flux for a reasonable price.
I am running the Ezi-run 2000kv/150amp combo in my SC8e (basically the same truck as yours) and it hauls ass, running 4s 5000mah turnigy."Baja" Living Proof That Size Does Matter!

Parallel. I hope you mean in series, I haven't tried parallel in a truggy, but in a buggy after half a pack it tends to cog slightly. But i recommend running 4s on 1/8 electrics. ESC wise, if your Losi hasn't kicked it yet, EZRUN is a reliable unit, MMM is great only because of Neu, Tekin RX8 is a brilliant esc but motors are questionable but you get sensored (guarantee no cogging).

Yeah I noticed that too but though to myself, no.... surely he's running them in series!
I'm running a genuine Neu motor and a Tekin ESC. I think for the time being that is the ultimate combo until tekin sort through the rotor issues they had with the first batch of motors.
I also have a MambaMonster esc and it has been great for over 6 months but the first two I had were duds and the case design is still crap.Rok RC product development team. "One man and a borrowed Dremel."

I'm not running the 2 venom batteries anymore.
I know have "Thunder Power "Pro Race" 4S Li-Polymer Battery 40C (14.8V/5000mAh)".

Just to update I've had the RC8Te running for a couple of weeks now with now problems. I replaced the Shoddy Losi ESC with the Castle Creations MMM v3 ESC and Kept the 2200kv losi motor.
Everything works great. Gearing is the stock 50/16. I lowered the Motor Timing to Low (2nd Lowest Setting of the 5 available) just to be safe with the Temps as its only really a basher.
Have to say this is one tough truck... it spents most of its time tearing it up around the local BMX track, launching itself all the jumps. There have been quiet a few stacks, some i thought would be major but to my surprised the only thing wrong is all the scratchs on the shell and chassis.
One thing im wondering is what do you guys recommand when it comes to diff oil set up. Im running the stock 7000wt front/centre/rear but know i can drasticly change how it drives by changing the oil.
Any suggestions???
Cheers

Good to hear the RC8Te is treating you well mate.
I would maybe try dropping the rear to maybe 2-4k. Or maybe even drop everything down to 5/5/1. Its sorta personal preference though, so drop just the rear down, try it and see how you like it then move from there.= Thunder Tiger Racing - Team Associated - Team Orion =

My diff oils are 7-12-5. 7k in the front is a very good place to start a setup as it has good traction for most tracks and surfaces. For center diff go thick, from experience anything lower than 7k has way too much ballooning and the rear is up to driver style and preference.
For those considering the tekin T8 motors, don't hesitate, I've been using the 1900kv on 4s and 15/50 and motor temp reached 42deg while ambient was 31deg after 12 minute run. Run about 9 hours through the motor so far and no rotor issues with the current revision.

Another happy Thunder Power user here.
Was it the caps on your esc that went?
