    Hi ambro

the boats awsome fun, i will not be going back to land rc for a while i like the boat to much, i realy sugest giving one a go

what i would look out for when buying a gas rc boat, is ont buy any thing from china, and dont buy any thing with a clone motor.

you want a big strong strong hull with a zenoah motor i think, after all of my resurch on gas boats for my step dad witch made me buy one there is two good places in australia to buy from.

    viper hulls

    sonic racing

and the two best places to buy fom in the usa is

    ware house hobbies

    bonzi sports

if you want a simple cheap but well made boat with an air cooled zenoah motor from a great company look at this

    http://9x4br.64n2f.servertrust.com/P...uctCode=SuperG

around 1100 usd shipped to your door add your own radio gear.

or around 900 usd in kit form you put it together but all holes int he hull is done no drill need its just a glue and bolt to gether job, ive heard from people its a very simple job almost to simple.

both verson are cheap enough to come under the import tax threashold, so there is no worries about paying import tax

they will do 70 kmh out of the box an worth a look, thye come under the kiss out look on life keep it simple stupid, and i have one on my to buy list as they are easy good fun and would be a good first or second boat.

that super G looks great i,m going too look around as well..... as for china

i have a supplier who will sell me one for 260usd as its his last one i have done buissness with them and there good for it... i will try and put up the photo and let you have a look from there and tell me what you think...also i like the fact that the boats are much easier to work with and to maintain less moving parts than a baja ....simple rule less parts less cost,s less maintinence.....also i like the idea of taking it with me when i go fishing and tow my line out near the edges or structures.....when i,m in my boat or bay fishing ....

thanks again for the info benckie

the more you spend upfront the less you spend int he long run, i have read loads about cheap hulls cracking up and under powered clone zens with 1 hp.

but it might be worth ago if ysou jsut want to find out if you like boats or not, but a bad boat might put you off the rc boat hobby or you might buy a cheap one with high shipping then buy a better one after

well i pulled the motor apart to day and im very happy.

6.5 hours on the tiny tack and i did have an outing with out the tinny tack so the motors one around 7.5 hour on 90 full wot.

inside the head the bore is sweet you still can see the cross hatching the head is not shinny at all, the ring gap is sweet and all looks nice new.
with my off road rc around 7.5 ours equals over 15 tanks and most times the motors would be worn down by then, i think cause of the dusty conditions even with 3 air filters and the extra revs they do they just wear out and the extra heat wouldnt help.

so even thougn this motor is still got loads of life left while ive got it apart i will replace the ring and gudgeon bearing and wach in some new gaskits, i also have ordered a 257 carb causei dont like the 813 leaking fuel into the hull.

so i think this motor will be fine for another 7 or so hours of full wot and im happy its like new.

    ambro
i wanted a boat with twin ruders, but after having one with a single rudder and learning more about gas rc boats i think it could be a pain in the but.

with one rudder if the ruder is to far back on a angle (the bottom oft he rudder away from the bottom of the hull) the boat will not get up on a plane.

if the agle of the bottom of the rudder is angled away from the the bottom of the hull it will make the boat run loose.

so if there is two rudders on the boat it could make this a problem an you could have a hard time with the boat or it could help it depends on witch way you look at it.

with the new hull im going to get built i was thinking of buy a twin rudder set up as its cheaper then just buying a new ruder for my boat, but i think it would be a drag literaly.

so i looked around to see what all the rc race boats are using, and they use single off set rudders.

another way of look at it, it might be to twitchy and to sensitive, i have read the team pro from wwh is very sensitive and you have to run a very low/slow steering rate.

i dont know as ive only ever ran a rc boat with one rudder, but with one rudder behind the prop i can do 180 degree turns at 70 pluss kmh with out loosing much speed and its like the boats on rails

the boat will out turn any land rc car or truck, mine was way to sensitive and would turn to sharp to the point it would spin out or skip on the corners, so fix this i had to slow the steering rate and change the servo speed in the servo throw and run a low epa with a smaller servo horn other wise the boat way to twitchy.

i can still do sharp turns if need but the boat is a bit more smoother and more user friendly, i did want to rudders to start with as i thoguth they looked cool, but after resurch and then running a rc gas boat and finding out they dont realy need help with steering as they will out steer any thing and the extra drag from a second rudder would only slow the boat down.

it might pay you to do some resurch befor jumping into any thing ambro

My last gas boat had two rudders, the two rudder setup still steers quick but the one rudder setup turns alot more shaper, I can do do a 180 flip in my Nitro and Electric boats.

    hey benckie,

    first all WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DONE MATE!!!

I dont think i have seen anyone with the get up n go you have shown regarding boats.

I'm 25 now and had a few meself. Started when i was about 8 with a lil nitro hydro but ended up making it elec for fun n nitro was a pain.

But yeah they are awesome fun. There is nothing like going fast on water. Either small scale or real scale boats. It is just FANTASTIC lol.

I just bought a 26cc gas boat so have followed your progress well.

I havent really played with my boats to much only props with the limited few i have and have never even seen turn fins etc lol.

So really looking forward to playing with all this sort of stuff soon.

Again congrats. You have done VERY well.

    Cheers
    Matt

    Thanks matt

im still new to gas boats as i kit i used to make electric kits or scratch build little kits out ont he farm but that was years and years ago.

the bonzi has been great, nothing broken nothing worn out and nothing fell off, they have been a good company to deal with, little isipointed wiuth there modifed motor, its good and the mods they have done have worked but for the the 200 usd price difrence from stock the leavel 2 (bzx2) its a tad mild for me.

i have sold my bonzi hull cheap as chips to some one, and i have payed for a new hull and i will pay the hull make to build me a gas boat using all my bonzi gear minus a few things

so i will start all over soon with a new hull and then the mid of next year i will be ready to purchase another complete boat, ill start collecting engines and so on for it soon.
